My vibration should be resolved in 1-2 days guaranteed. I test drove a Ford F150, Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra. None of them vibrated above 60 mph. Trading it in on a better option.

Certainly understandable, It is so irritating living with a "shaker". Love everything else about the truck-nice 5.3 that is smooth and relatively fuel efficient. Brakes are great and have a nice firm feel to them. Wind noise much better than last gen. have just been a GM guy, don't see myself driving any manufactures mention above. Ford- Aluminum body scares me a bit and long term reliability of Eco Boost??. Ram needs cosmetic update. Toyota- maybe-the engine is an gas hog though. Nissan Titan? But, a smooth ride for a $40K truck, I reluctantly maybe heading down the same road as you, no matter what it is, may just preserve my sanity

I am trading mine in on a Ford F150 5.0L. I have heard of too many issues with the 3.5 EcoBoost. The new truck has a heavy duty towing package with 3.73 gears, so it has some "get up and go" in it. The transmission shifts smooth too. I have owned a Tundra. They are great trucks, but gas mileage is poor (5.7L with 4.30 gears) and they only have 5.5' boxes on the CrewMax. Best resale value on any truck that I have owned.

If I were to go with another truck it would be a Ford. If I got a f150 it would have a 5.0 in it and if I went with a super duty the powerstroke is quite impressive as well as the torque shift transmission. I actually think the aluminum body is a good idea, no rust except for the frame in the future, just the cost of it at the body shop could get pricey

Keep asking the dealer to fix it. Have they checked pinion angle, etc?

No on the pinion adjust. This is the first time I took it in, It does appear to be better but still vibrates. I am beginning to believe the suspension with the Ranchos is just too stiff and I feel every bump in the road. May have to try the Bilsteins like I had on my 08.

This is awesome. Especially the whole part about GM acknowledging they're aware of the issues which the dealer I visited a week or so ago said they've never heard of this issue, nor did the GM technician hotline they called. Knew it was all BS. Composing an email to the dealer immediately.

I have a 2015 Silverado V6-----It`s not the tires, rims, pinion angle, drive shaft, rear end, front end, shocks, etc...... It`s in the power train, period! Open your hood, (took me awhile to finally look under the hood too) with your truck in park, motor running. You can see the whole motor, trans, vibrates! I videoed it, and its bad. When it started vibrating while at a stop light, that's when I decided to open the hood. One person on here I think nailed the problem, Brandon1282/ After completing all tests found that TCM could not be 'pulse-width' tested, only command on or off. With these measurements we determined that the TCM was sending an erratic signal causing the torque converter to be commanded erratically. This caused potential damage to torque converter. Therefore, I replaced the TCM (Signal) and torque converter (damaged internally). Road tested vehicle; now operating to GM specifications with no vibration when tested under the original conditions.

​I knew it wasn't tires or rims when it first started a week after I bought it. Tach is not steady, same vibration, but harder when it down shifts when slowing down.

No power train should be vibrating like this, especially in park at idle. No way to post the video on here, or I would.

 

Already gave GM there last chance to own up to the problem, tech said everything all the others said on here, it`s up to specs. the dishonesty is apparent from GM tech, the dealer techs, the owner of the dealership, and of course the all trust worthy salesperson. Not!

The first test drive the head service tech admitted it was the power train on the test drive, and pointed out it was the torque converter. also said the transmission is to big for this engine, and that the V8`s don`t vibrate as bad. Wow! But when you get them back to the dealership, mums the word. They blamed it on the tires. second time they kept it for 15 days, even put a new rim on, and tire. The loaner was exactly like mine, except it was a 2016 with a 5.3 V8. It vibrated too with the same whining sound from the trans area. Third time road with a tech who claimed he fixed it by road force balancing the tires, no it`s not the tires I told him, and he explained on the ride along with me that mine was one that didn't have it as bad as others he has ridden in. But back at the dealership, it`s up to specs and there is nothing more they can do. Amazing! Oh and the loaner they had for me the third time, was a $50.000 crew cab 2016 5.3 V8. Same vibration in it as well. sad!

 

Luckily our lemon law here is pretty strict and supports the consumer, final demand replace and/or refund letter is coming your way GM

Have been buying GM vehicles all my life, have 3 now. 1972 Custom 10 Reg Cab long box, 2011 Equinox, 2015 Silverado reg cab long box, I call the vibrator! Our 72 C-10 which has been in the family since 1974, makes the new truck seam like a fictional GM product.

 

Disgusting dishonesty being displayed by GM, and it`s dealerships!

 

P.S. They first claimed that it`s a characteristic of all the trucks, lol! That needs to be on the window sticker then, because I`m not going to purchase a brand new truck that vibrates!

GM has rebuilt our roof twice - lots of repairs. Still vibrates especially during cold weather. GM will not consider buying the car back and the dealer will not pursue a fix as they have done all that the factory tech's have told them to do. Here's a video of our issue.

that is part of the rough idle, there was a TSB for it, but it doesnt help much, basically they just adjust the exhaust pressure. however that is not the only vibration source. I too have video of it, BillC6 has seen it on my truck in person lol, we compared it to his 6.2 that he got rid of.

I think that's what the majority of people settle for and don't go through the whole process.

Based on the 2000 samples in the SPEEDiagnostix database, increasing the oil viscosity in these engines, even those run on the track, showed no significant difference in results.   The smoking gun was in the oil chemistry. That is where the data shows higher instances of more wear. Molybdenum was the key; the higher the amount, the less the wear. Speed postulates that higher viscosity oils have more thickeners to artificially inflate their viscosity numbers. These thickeners lose viscosity under shear, and the result is that not all oils of the same viscosity have the same shear stability.   Having enough viscosity is the most important characteristic, but according to Speed, once that required viscosity level is reached, additive chemistry matters more than additional viscosity. Speed also states, oil pressure problems on the racetrack aren’t a viscosity problem; it’s an oiling system problem. Running a thicker oil is just a band-aid for an underlying oiling system problem.
    • Can it still be Assembled II?   Viscosity on the decline by various means. Heat on the rise making that worse. Engine RPM in the tank. Smaller motors with more boost trying to emulate an electric motor. Full torque, zero rpm. Then we will triple the OCI. Argh.    But wait....there is more. LSPI has pushed a shift from Ca to Mg and as that cost more PLUS the run to lower sulfur compounds the TBN is moving in the wrong direction for the increased OCI's demanded.    That not being enough to placate a demand for a parameter they can't measure the other sulfur bearing compounds are also under attack. That would be zinc and phosphorus sulfonate compounds. To some degree those are being replaced with boron esters and others, i.e. titanium ect. All of which have shorter service lives. And there there is the "Secrete Sauce" marketing for AW adds that 'Can't be detected by UOA's" but trust me because I (the blenders) never ever lie.    Spoiler alert; ALL additives are sacrificial! Smaller amounts of the old blended with less robust versions of the new do not equal longer service lives. So what are the blenders recommending? Wait for it.......   MOVING THE GOAL POSTS! OMG      Let's declare the long standing TAN/TBN crossover irrelevant and tell people that soot is a great 'graphite' based lubricant which can aid tribo films. Wait, what? Let's declare that the standards used for oxidation and nitration were to conservative and can be expanded. Let's tell them that because GDI fuel dilution, although being a VISCOSITY KILLER and an acid generator is actually okay because we have better base oils that limit viscosity failure limits. (Said knowing this is measured in fractions of a centipoise and in bases not commonly used in shelf oils)   Lying from the heart is not just the new normal but we have a public, a very young public, that is so ignorant of the facts and so sure of their "RESEARCH" into AI driven models base in regurgitated  instead of scientific research based unvarnished, peer reviewed FACTS that the incoming guard is loosing their grip on reality and the OEM's are tickled pink while the blends bend the knee.    You have an ever limited set of tools to work with. And sooner or later those will be taken from you as the API and the EPA strangle the last remaining fluids from the system. What you have left is your wits. If you care to use them.    At some point in the very near future it will not longer be possible to do "What is best for the machine", and be replaced with "The best you have access too". You WILL be rewarded with half the life and twice the cost. That isn't that hard to predict.         
    • I trust you saw the other comment where he knew what he was talking about !. Yes, these darned newer vehicles with all their so smart they are stupid technology, goes and drains the battery down. As you might see my other comment, I installed a Noco 5 battery tender under the hood and at this point still have the cord routed so I have to lift the hood and then plug it in but am typically parked in a garage or a shed so its not risking the engine hood in the wind. That way I am assured or hopefully so of not finding I have a battery drawn down and can't even start the truck and that also damages the battery to draw it down too far. 
    • I guess no surprise my guesses were wrong !, at least now I know if I ever happen to see it grayed out in my own truck as to what is going on.    I never happened to catch my truck with it grayed out, it seemed every time I would test to see if there was an update it never found anything and yet more than once I would check to see if there was an update and there was nothing, then a day later or even that same morning I would drive to town and after more than one engine shut down in town as I did my errands it would pop up that there is an update now ready to install and the only place I have a connection to the internet is at home by wifi so its not as if it grabbed the download while driving. I don't trust these new vehicles due to all the crap they can decide to do while sitting for some days not running and run the battery down so most of the time if I know the truck will sit for a few days I plug in the battery tender I have mounted under the hood and so the only time the truck must have downloaded software was when it was sitting in the garage where the signal is awful but I have that tender plugged in and somehow it managed to download it. I honestly detest all this crap, way to easy to leave a person stranded.    Since I don't trust any of it I don't do the install of the already downloaded software until I get home and sometimes have even sat in the truck to watch what its doing as its going through the process to its conclusion as its not like it is set up that it will tell you the next time you fire up the engine that the update that was initialed actually installed or installed properly. Yes I can go into the updates and see the list. After I go through the install where I feel its safe to do so in case it breaks down as a result, I will plug in the battery tender after the fact to recharge as I don't know how much power its taking just to do the install and that can take a while for it to install. 
    • Thanks for the reply. All settings were correct and the engine was off, as it was supposed to be. It turned out to be something simple. I took a drive for about an hour. I must have had a low battery without knowing it. The voltage gauge on the display looked ok. At the end of my drive, I shut off the engine and the update prompt came up and it updated normally. It’s ironic because one of the features of the update is a reduction of battery drain.
