Just got done installing tge RC 2.5 leveling lift kit. Question for the 2016 owners, the bottom struts spacers screw kit that y'all get, were they long enough??? Mines came kinda short for my liking. The YouTube video installation / probably a 2014/2015 modal are long enough

@7:39 but on my 2016 truck they are too short. Did I get the wrong screw sets?

do you really have to do all that to put the lower spacer in??

i could have sworn back in 2014 guys were just unbolting the 2 lower shock bolts then putting in the spacer and bolting it back in.

Yup, for the 2016 you have to take the strut out, unless you have a spring compresor like the shops due then you have to take it to brake check or any brake shop to get the damn preload spacer installed under the spring. I didn't know that till I read the instruction. The 2014 and 15 models you just install the spacers under the shock and on top of the strut which I thought was the same form my truck but no. It was a pain in the a** process but once all done and said with I'm happy with the way the truck looks.

 

The only issue I'm having with the kit is the length of the bolts they sent me. I called RC and one of them said it's the correct length which I do not agree. It should be longer, not so flush with the nut lock internal plastic in the picture I posted. Another parson via email said I need to order a different 10mm bolt/ call them. That's the only issue i have with this kit. Honestly if I knew about the spring preoalod spacer then no, I would not have order the kit but it's on and it is what it is.

No, you don't have to remove the upper control arm nut. Just the outer tie rod and the link bushing on both sides. Taking the upper control arm but off makes things much easier I believe then get the truck aligned after your done with everything.

No rubbing on the control arms. The coilovers did give me a little more lift causing a little rubbing on my sway bar at full lock though.

I was thinking of running a similar setup as I'm not too happy with the stock ride. I think there's only a handful of guys on here that are running the same thing, so any feedback you can give would be helpful. Thanks!

Would a skinnier tire clear the sway bar then? Like a 275 ILO 285? Planning on a 275/70/18.

 

Also what did you set your coilovers on? Max/2.5" lift? 2" lift?

 

Curious if this is because of the UCAs or the coilover/tire combo.

I am very pleased with the ride. It's definitely more firm than stock, but that's also what I was looking for. Much less body roll around curves and a lot less rebound bounce from the suspension over uneven asphalt.

A skinnier tire should clear no problem. My rub is extremely minimal with the 285/65R18 - like barely scuffing the sway bar enough to notice.

 

As for the lift, I'm not 100% sure how much I ended up with because I had a Rough Country leveling spacer on before installing these coilovers and don't remember my stock measurements. With the Rough Country spacer I was sitting about 39" from ground to fender in the front and out of the box my Fox coilovers had it sitting at about 40.5". I'm in the process of playing with the preload to find a height I want to stick with, but I'll more than likely end up around 39.5" to 40" in the front once I'm done.

 

Right now I'm actually sitting a little nose high with my front measurement being 40" and my rear at 39-39.5", but I do also plan on going with an add-a-leaf in the rear to help with sag and keep things level when hauling a load.

How hard are the blocks to do in the rear? I did the 2" front now when I tow I'm about 2" low in the rear and blind everyone with my headlights..

And from what I saw in my months of looking before and after I bought a truck, those people never seem to report back with long term reports on how ball joints and TRE's handle the extra stresses of those "successful" kits. It's the ones that say "I put this 3"+ leveling or budget lift on my truck and realize I effed up" then come looking for the advice that already litters this board and can be found with a simple search. Those of us that actually heed the great advice on the board should at least get to have a little fun at someone's expense while we correct their issues.

Figure I'll be that guy with the update. Some background on me ...my father is a mechanic so I learned everything from brake jobs to clutch replacements to engine re(building) to just about anything between the bumpers. Anyway, I run a motofab 3 inch front, 3 inch rear. Still on stock tires and rims. I have full lock to lock without any incidents. No clicking, knocking, screeching, wobbles, ....nothing. I have an angled driveway that puts my truck at an awkward Angle backing out and no popping or such. The ride is fantastic. For me the ride actually feels softer than stock...and no I do remember the stock ride which is still great but was pleasantly surprised at the better feel. The truck has been driven from Ma to Fl and back again with no inckling of a problem. The truck is driven on back roads highways and dirt roads ,..still no problems. I've had it on since January. I do agree that the angles are obviously not close to something of a thousand dollar lift but that will come with a better lift down the road.

ive got the rc 2" front kit on my '15 z71 gmc. right now i have the 22" gmc wheels but Id like to go with 20s and maybe the toyo open country 33x12.5 at2 tires? these wont rub huh?

I have the RC 2.5 leveling lift kit, for some strange reason on stock tires/ 20 rims it's rubbing on the sway bar just the driver side tire. I love the look but I will be taking it off and going back to stock due to warranty and don't want any issues when taking it in. 6k miles also noticed it pulls to the right when braking, not a hard pull but my cousins 2016 Chevy truck with about 300miles does not pull to the right or at all when braking. I don't believe it's the lift kit but still taking it off.

    • If everything checks out at the MAF, then the MAF is BAD, new or not.   You don't need a signal generator to troubleshoot this. PCM needs ALL powers and ALL grounds able to light a halogen headlight bulb - if it can light the bulb bright, then the wiring is good enough to run the PCM.   Best thing you can do for yourself is spend some time here: scannerdanner.com - Check out all his YouTube videos on similar issues. If you decide to subscribe it's the best bang-for-buck ratio in the automotive world, hands-down. He's got TONS of free vids on YouTube, too.
    • Yes, I used my multimeter to probe all of the wires at the MAF, both with the sensor connected, sensor disconnected, key on engine off, key on engine running, etc etc etc. I probed all of the wires again at the PCM, at the connectors, etc. All voltages are what they should be according to the service manual/wiring diagrams. All grounds are good, less than 20 millivolts from the battery negative under load. Both at the connector of the MAF, at the PCM connector etc.      I know this throws a pretty big wrench into things, but this truck was acting up before the swap. I don't have very much information, if any on what was causing it, but if you cleared all of the dtcs it would do the same thing where it would crank, fire, then die. And it would do the same thing a dozen or so times, and eventually it would start and run, but the difference is that it would run and actually be drivable. Whereas now if you can drive it at all, it goes into reduced power mode almost immediately, and even then it's not running correctly. When you come to a stop at a light it stumbles down to for 500 RPM before catching itself and returning to the smooth idle. And if you go more than about 50% throttle then it immediately goes back to doing the misfire thing.    Like I said, I know that throws a wrench into things, and unfortunately I was not able to pull any data or anything like that before I did this work, so I don't have much to go on.    I'm trying to not fixate on one particular thing as the cause of the problem, but it seems like all avenues are pointing me towards the PCM. Like I said I have tested the wiring extensively (see above), and during cranking the sensor does produce seemingly legitimate values at least according to my multimeter, but as soon as the engine fires those values quickly descend into gibberish. I've tried it with multiple different known working sensors, I have done literally every test I can think of multiple times on the wiring (probing the signals, probing the pins with the sensors unplugged, probing the pins at the PCM, voltage drop, voltage drop under load, continuity, ohms, and double-checking everything against the wiring diagrams/ proper values in the service data.)    Another thing that pushes me towards a possible PCM failure is, I have noticed in troubleshooting a little bit taking a break and coming back, that when I leave the truck to sit for a while and cool off, it starts and runs smoothly when I first start it up. However once it warms up. It starts having problems. For example, when I went out to the truck this morning after it had been sitting overnight, I was actually able to drive it down the block. And then once I got on the throttle a Little bit after going about a thousand ft, it started misfiring again. I pulled it back into the driveway, shut it down, and started it back up. It idled smoothly. As soon as I touched the throttle it did the misfire thing again. From then on as soon as I started it it would misfire. I shut the truck off and went to go get a coffee and do a bit more research. When I came back out I started the truck up and it immediately went into the smooth idle. After a couple of minutes of playing around with it, it would not idle smoothly anymore. Let it sit a couple of hours, rinse and repeat. This makes me think with temperature change something is going wrong inside the PCM. I have the PCM out of the 2007 donor vehicle and I'm thinking of getting a one-day subscription to the ACDelco programming service to try and program that and see if it helps.   Like I said, I'm really trying to not fixate myself on one potential cause, but it seems everything is pointing me towards PCM failure. I would really like to try to confirm that, but unfortunately I don't have an oscilloscope or a signal generator to do the GM service procedure where you feed 5 khz into the signal pin. 
    • Ahh, sorry about that - I got some bad info. Newdude is correct. That's what I get for working 13 hours straight ... on my "vacation", lol.   Should've checked the files I had instead of the internet.   Anyway ... this is GREAT news, since this would've been an absolute friggin nightmare to get working.   I don't think the lack of VVT is causing this - you've got another issue. Wiring, I'm betting.   I'm telling you right now, your computer isn't bad. If it worked before the swap, it's working now. You need to do some more (better) diagnostics and figure out exactly what you're missing. Did you test every wire directly at the MAF? Have 5V reference? Ground? If you're reading ZERO g/s, your Hz isn't much use - it's going to be the wrong value anyway. The MAF is not working, and you need to find out WHY.   I got this off the net, so VERIFY first: Pin A: Black (BLK) wire, Circuit 552, serves as the Sensor Return (Ground).  Pin B: Tan (TAN) wire, Circuit 472, carries the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) signal.  Pin C: Yellow (YEL) wire, Circuit 492, is the primary MAF Sensor Signal output to the PCM. Pin D: Pink (PNK) wire, Circuit 339 or 539, provides Ignition 1 Voltage (Power).  Pin E: Tan/Black wire, Circuit 552 or similar, often associated with the Intake Air Temperature ground or signal return.  Global-A list: https://postimg.cc/KKJnQC85    
    • Correct....the end user can't reach to Realtruck directly like they can if they purchase a Bak, Undercover, etc...  It has to go through a dealer.
