Rear Slider Window Discontinued?!

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this is what is affecting my order or not. I ordered my Denali in September and it still has not made it to the dealer. I've been told that it's sitting at the port while GM does a quality control check on it. My dealer has no idea when it will be released to them. I can't find anything on the internet or on this site where anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

This is more than likely not the issue that is stopping your vehicle from being delivered.

Did they do away with the power window entirely? I will be one unhappy camper! I used my rear slider daily!

It's still available but with limited production while they catch up repairing the units that have already been shipped. Higher trims still seem to be getting them, but mid-level trims like mine are currently shipping without them. I've had mine since August before the bulletin was issued. Mine hasn't failed so I'm not in a hurry to fix it; probably wait til the next oil change.

Ah, OK great. I'm not rushing into one right now so I will wait it out.

If I am not mistaken, currently it is available as a dealer installed option.

what are they charging for that? $250?

No idea how much they are charging. The dealer installed option part pops up when shopping for a truck via USAA or Costco.

Luckily, my truck came with it so it is a non-issue with me. Have you asked a dealer how much they are charging?

i will ask about it. but you would think if i ordered it and it was delivered with out it they should offer to do it for the same price.

I seriously doubt that the rear sliding window would ever be dealer installed. Where are they going to install the window switch? They'd have to replace the control panel cover on the roof. And then there's all the additional wiring, the old window removal, etc. That must have been a mistake on the website.

Does anyone have specific knowledge of the slider being available or not available for Sierras ordered from this date forward?
I'm heading to dealer tomorrow or this weekend to order a 6.2 denali. According to salesman it would be part of the vehicle as it is in the denali package.
I'm particular about certain things and this is definitely one of them. So much so that I would not accept the truck on arrival if it didn't have one if I were expecting it to be there. Seems trivial I know but for 58k it should at least have all the features and options its advertised as having. If it needs to be fixed or there's a tsb to repair once I own it I'm ok with that. Ordering under the assumption it will be part of the truck and finding out its just not there when it arrives is a different story.
If anyone knows for sure somehow I'd appreciate it.

Look at the last pages of the 3100 event code thread & you'll see it happened to someone there. His name is Craig.

According to the order guide (follow the link below) the option has been deleted entirely since 10/28/13 in all of the trim levels except the High Country and the Denali. It is still standard on those 2 models. My truck (1LZ Silverado) was ordered when it was still part of the package, they axed it and I believe it will have a $250 credit on the window sticker for the option being discontinued. My truck got pulled for a quality control inspection according to my salesman and it is about 2-3 weeks behind other guys trucks that got built around the same time. Because it is a Denali it could be the slider holding it up if the supplier is still having issues keeping up.

I am betting his was already at status 3400 Broadcast when they pulled the plug. Meaning they had probably already sent the orders out to the suppliers for what was going to be on the truck.

Very possible, he'll get the workbench on it today and I'll get the actuall date it was built.

    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
