As expected by the thread title, I will attempt to document the journey with my new truck and the upcoming add on's and modifications. Picked it up mid November and so far have 2,500 miles on it.

Here is what it looked like the day after coming home

post-125682-0-84654100-1389152248_thumb.jpg

Summit White, All Star and Convenience Packages, 5.3L with 3.43 gears, trailer package with brake controller, cargo lights, 18" wheels with the standard crappy Goodyear's

As many of us do I was already thinking about what was going to get changed prior to picking it up but was wanting to get some time on it unmolested prior to starting to do things to it, plus with the holidays I wasn't going to have much time to work on it. It also gave me more time to spend on here over lunch hour or at night to see what everyone else is doing to their truck and what ideas I thought would be useful to me.....or just look cool :)

After a month or so, top of the modification list was a hard bed cover, HID headlight mod and the additional LED backup lights that are getting popular and were so well documented by svtkidd23 on the next link

First to get installed was the bed cover, ended up going with a Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite, my complete review is here....after almost a week still very happy with it!

Next up is the DDM 5000k headlight kits, but still waiting on them to be delivered. Got an email back on Dec 28th saying they had shipped but still don't have them so going to have to do some more digging into that, hopefully they'll be here prior to the weekend so I have something else to work on other than just my never ending home renovation projects.

Well haven't even had the truck for 2 months and already forgetting what I've done to it! My first addition was mudflaps, letting a 4x4 off the lot without mudflaps just seems wrong to me and when I live almost 3 miles down gravel they're a requirement for limiting rock damage. Ended up going with the GM factory ones as I thought they looked better/more factory and not like an afterthought. Some other options offer a "no drill" install but to me that wasn't a big concern and didn't think they looked nearly as nice.

Next addition(that I forgot) was new floor mats, no picture of these but ended up going with the Husky Liner's, lots of people go back and forth betwen the Husky and Weathertech's but I went with the Husky's and am very happy with them. Stay in place, easy to remove and clean, fit nice, and half the price of the weathertech's.

First modification that I can blame on here was doing something to level the truck out, definitely not a fan of the nose down, rear up factory stance. Didn't want to go to the work of putting in a front level kit immediately, so when I had it in the garage to install the bed cover I pulled the 1.25" rear axle blocks. Figured it was hard to go wrong with something that was basically free and just going to cost me a bit of time. Process was pretty straight forward, I did it without pulling rear tires and took about an hour which would've been faster if I didn't have so much stuff in my garage limiting my access around the truck. Impact with socket set, jacks and jack stands is all I think I needed.

Very happy with how it sits now, I'm probably going to leave it the way it is and not try and do anything else as far as stance. I load the bed up or hook a trailer on it often enough I'm not sure I want to drop the rear anymore and not really a fan of lifting the front.....at least not for now! Let me get some of the other mod's floating around my head complete and then I might change my mind.

Nice truck! Its almost like a 2014 version of mine but 4x4.

And I really like the leveled look, I would do the exact same if i had one that came with the stink bug stance. lol

Thanks guys!

Got the DDM HID headlight kit in on Friday, so today the truck went in the garage and the grille got pulled out to try and black out the chrome mesh and got the headlight's done. DDM kit went in no problems, test runs in the garage don't seem to have any problems so hopefully it stays problem free.

Wanting to black out the chrome mesh in the grille as I just think there is too much chrome on the front end of these, everywhere I looked was all out of black plasti-dip so decided to give the Rustoleum brand rubberized spray a try. Overall I'm not overly fond of it but I think it'll do, definitely didn't end up nice and flat like plasti-dip will, this has a much more textured finish. For now I think I'll probably be ok but going to have to either buy the actual black mesh grille inserts, or get some real plasti-dip and give it another try in the future. Grille will go back together tomorrow night and I'll get some pictures up then

Was able to get the truck back together tonight and overall I like it, the "textured" type finish that the Rustoleum gave doesn't look bad and at least in my opinion seems to let it blend into the background a bit more and let the larger chrome pieces stand out. Coverage isn't bad, couple spots I noticed when I put the grille back in that it's a little light and if you look at it just right can see a bit of chrome, but will hopefully do for now as I debate if I keep it this way or try and find the factory black grille/mesh inserts and replace them completely
