Ford gets ready to unveil the aluminum F-150

something tells me Ford was rummaging around the Dumpsters at Toyota's San Antonio Truck Plant when they were designing the 2015 F-150.

A pick up is a pick up. Only so much what one can do with the design.

But this is lame. Even for a Ford.

RAM looks like a big toy. Ford like ...I don't know...even more boring than the RAM.

The Silverado and the Sierra are the best looking trucks out there.

It seems like GM is the only one for the past few years that looks different from the other full size trucks. All of the rest have the same look where the grille extends ahead of the headlights.

As for the aluminum body Ford. Doesn't hurt to try. I may be a GM guy, but I do like Dodge and Ford. The ones talking about being in a wreck. The body isn't what protects you, it's the chassis under the body panels. Plus the body panels on my '14 are thin anyways from them wanting to save weight.

And the front of your frame is designed to crumple on impact.

It's the vehicle damage (frame or unibody) during impact that absorbs the energy and saves lives.

I have to laugh when I see adds on TV with 2 people sitting on the hood of a new vehicle looking at the stars etc.. If they sat on the hood of my truck, there would be dents in the hood. The metal panels are so thin you can feel some buckling when you lean on the vehicle to wax it.

I still don't see them on the road aside from a few with either M (manufacturer) or commercial plates and even those are likely test fleet trucks. To the best of my knowledge the Rouge plant is still in transition. Ford is gonna lose out on sales massively in Q4 and maybe into 2015 depending on how long it takes them to get the changeover done in Dearborn.

Haven't check with the Kansas City plant. They are a big builder of F-150's.

I don't mind the sliding rear windows, as long as it's manual. I'm not going to get a power sliding rear window, just another window motor that will be a pain in the ass to replace. That's why I got a flat rear window in the new truck. Plus it's one less thing that can leak lol.

"Active Sound Control"...mh...I'm sooo happy to have aV8.

And if they put 4 turbos on a 1.6L V4 with more output than my 5.3L I would never go for it.

The feeling to be tricked into believing that I'm driving a truck (just going by the emotional thing here) wouldn't cut it.

It's like having the best sound system with the biggest subwoofer. Inside the car the experience might be amazing.

But on the outside the panels are clattering and it sounds like someone is farting into a popcan.

I'm out.

Ford also has an engine sounds go through the speakers of the new Mustang. I forgot where I saw it, but the guy said he took the fuse out for the sound system and the engine sound also went away. I have nothing against Ford, but that's stupid. You don't see GM doing that. I would rather hear nothing in my new truck than fake engine sounds. But, I fixed the silent exhaust with a Flowmaster Super 44 and sounds great lol.

Much better review from truck trend. They observed 16mpg with the 2.7l over real world situations, such as hills and 80+f.

This engine has stop/start and stops the ac compressor when it stops.... Wtf? I can't imagine being in phx in 110+ weather and then having the ac shut off during a red light!

Overall its a good review of the xlt model....

The AC will stay cold for a while, if it's a short light at least.... hahaha. At least you can disable stop/start. I think it's dumb and causes excess wear and doesn't save that much fuel.

16 kinda blows, that's no better than I get in my 2006 in those conditions. I bet most K2 owners get significantly better.

16.7 after an hour plus of 60-75 mph?

My heavy Tahoe with 4 speed gets over 14!

And I think the new 6.2L with 8 speeds have already tested better than that?

Has to be a preproduction issue. A truck that's 700 pound lighter should be better.

My commute is 16.5 km one way. About 1/3 city and 2/3 highway.

I have two cold starts every day plus 2-5 min warming up the engine each time.

On the way home I'd consider the highway as city 'cause it's stop and go for the most part.

I average 15.5 -16 mpg with the AFM disabled.

No further questions your Honour.
