It was! Not much, but it was open a bit. I kept tightening the spring and letting go. Seems OK, but I think it should feel more free. I'll keep an eye on it. I could try some high heat lubricant. Not sure what course to take though, if it doesn't want to completely close.

it should be covered under warranty...

@mzodrag

You are a dick. I am trying to help here. You buy a truck and the damn thing drives around like a beaten **** in the so called V4 mode. Keep it like it is and go around a corner and punch and you get a bang when it comes out of fag V4. Get a grip. You bought the truck to drive it like a truck not a Prius. If this doesn't get banned I will be ****ing surprised. Either way. Adios

What are you Mr. semantics???

i will agree with you about taking a corner and accelerating and it banging because its trying to do to many things at once..one thing i hate about the afm... along with you needing a down grade and a tail wind to keep it in v4

If i'm not paying attention, I would never know it switched. If I anticipating it going to V8 to V4, I will notice a slight engagement.

Same with mine as haider320. And I'm not worried about it. I knew it existed when I bought the truck and did the rest drive. I'm still very pleased with the truck over all.

If anyone is interested range is still giving out 20$ off. The promo code of 2014BETATESTER is still working as of right now.

Simple solution to AFM clunking when driving around the city.... Drive in 5th. I never had it in 6th, unless I'm on the highway. It's an absolute dog when I try driving it in "D" in the city.

I read a lot and gave up after page 12. If you don't like V4 or think it really doesn't help with gas milage. Then drive around the outer parts of town below 55 using cruise control for 25 miles in drive and then do the same thing in M5. Which one gets better milage? If you get to do any good runs without stopping you will get better milage with the 40% increase you see from V4. You foot moving keeps it out of V4 mode a lot. If you just don't like V4 mode use M5 and control your life instead of complaining.

The trailing throttle shuts off the injectors anyways, so if it's not going to V4 mode when coasting, but reads 99 mpg. It doesn't matter because it's not using any fuel anyways.

I didn't see one thing about tire pressure before I gave up on the reading them all. I just went from running 32 psi as recommended in the door to 35 psi and it goes in to V4 sooner, stays longer, and gets better milage when it is. I'll probably try 37 also, but have not calculated the extra tire wear over money saved for fuel yet.

I do feel it switch from time to time at low speeds, but it just feels like a gear change, so what is there to complain about there? The transmission slamming a gear like a neutral drop from time to time. That is a complaint issue and there is a bulletin about i now I posted in the thread about transmission troubles.

3 weeks with RangeV8 so far. Working great, no strange messages or lights. Got my fingers crossed.

Drove from Chicago to Detroit today with the AFM turned off with the V4 module. Got

24.2 mpg. Took picture of dash but don't know how to paste. Have Sierra crew cab 5.3 motor with 3.45 gears. set cruise at 68 mph. Not bad. The most I got when the AFM was activated was about 22. Runs great. Oh yea. Air conditioning was on.

I could feel it on my'14 V8, but not at all on my '14 V6. I use cruise control religiously! Every time I hit 25 mph I hit the cruise and pretty much just accelerate with my thumb. I get way better mpg and mine stays in V4 mode more. I just got the truck because it looks sooo cool. If I could get a "range" or AFM device that would keep it in V4 mode, I would install it. I want the awesome looks of this truck, with the fuel economy of a Prius.

Range has a V4 Fuel Economy Device that does keep it in V4 longer (as much as 90% of the time)

I'm wondering if anyone has actually turned of the AFM and compare MPG?

Have mine off with module and get 24 mph\g on highway going 70 mph.

I don't know if it will help you as I order my truck with the SEY 22" wheels, When I picked up the truck the tires were inflated to 37 psig cold and only heat up to 39 psig after driving. Back here in Ohio I'm getting 20 mpg city with 93oct with my 6.2 engine and 3.42 gears.

I can definitely tell when it switches modes, but it is smoother than the Hemi Ram version.

    • HD at the moment, are kinda their own deal.  How LTZ sells on those vs on 1500, there is a difference.   They are merging most of the mid trims on 1500.  LT, RST and LTZ are replaced by one trim, Silverado.  LT and RST are a BIG portion of sales.    Bad naming choice aside, the new Silverado trim will offer the spread of options that those three trims offered.  So expect to see things like the tech package for example, and memory seats.  And LT Trail Boss will now just be "Trail Boss" (formerly LT Trail Boss) but will offer content spread like the new Silverado trim will.  The press photos showed the Trail Boss (formerly LT Trail Boss) has access to Super Cruise now, which on the current truck was High Country only.       Here is the Trail Boss interior.  Memory seats and Super Cruise are present.  All things the LT Trail Boss it replaces, and the RST it was based on didn't get on the current gen.  You had to go to LTZ or ZR2 for memory seats, and High Country for Super Cruise.
    • I installed a Hellwig rear sway bar on my 21 Sierra SLT, it made a huge difference on how the truck handles, no body roll, the trucks much more planted now. Not sure of the suspension differences between the 21 and 26,  if its body roll your having a sway bar will solve it.
    • So a follow up and my fix. I found in online searches the live data to look at on a scan tool to verify the fuel tank pressure sensor was working.  It showed an spec number towards the lower end of the rang, but in spec.  Then while it was running opened the gas cap and the pressure should change.  It didn't change even a tiny bit.  The data for the purge valve said it was open...never changed. So then I measured the voltages on the plug for the fuel pressure sensor and they matched what it should be.  So local car quest parts had the sensor in stock...it was a bit of a pain to remove and an even bigger one to get it to actually go back in.  It helped to unbolt the driveshaft and bungie cord away from the gas tank to give a bit more room to work. So fuel tank pressure sensor in I cleared the code, and started it up.  I went to the scan tool's live data and... Eureka! The pressure number was different and fluctuated a bit.  So took it on a short drive and pressure number varied saw the purge valve go from closed to open and back to closed.  Drove it to and from work for roughly a week plugged in the scan tool no codes.  I took it in to get tested and passed.  In my state's infinite wisdom (oops meant greed), since I pushed the test with the maximum extensions I have to take it back in by Feb '27 to 'get it back up to date', then my next test won't be until Feb '29.
    • Any grease on the stud threads of any kind?   Wheel studs should have NOTHING on them for proper torquing and so the nuts don't back off.     Are all of the mating surfaces clean?  So wheel, rotor and hub?     We've had plenty of trucks at work with that wheel, this is a first to me.  Makes me think they've got a lube tech putting anti-seize on all the wheel studs or some kind of grease, and they need to stop doing that.  To have 11 other trucks with the same exact problem.
    • I was a Chevy guy for years, then switched to GMC because I liked the looks better.  I'm actually thinking I like the Chevy looks better than GMC for the first time in a lot of years.   One thing I know for certain, the new GMC dash is hideous!  Chevy wins this one!
