GM Borla vs Muffler Delete

At first I left the flapper on because I wasn't sure if I would like the sound of the muffler delete. And if I wanted to add the muffler back, then it was already there.

Yes, it sounds better without the flapper...to my ears. It's a little louder. BUT you can just lock the flapper in the open position with a hose clap.

So with or without the flapper ? Wonder what it would sound like without the flapper on stock tune trucks like mine. I don't mind taking off the flapper as well as the muffler but just wonder if there is any noise difference with or without it.

So riddle me this...with the muffler delete and leaving the flapper and resonator these are the results?

Sounds good at startup

no drone

no chopper

sounds good under acceleration

not loud when cruising

99% yes. Only reason not 100% is because you can hear the chopper but you really really have to be listening for it. But with radio on, windows down, or a truck full of ladies (or men), more than likely you will not hear it.

It does sound better with the flapper off or locked in the open position. Then get a tune from Diablo or Black Bear with V4 mode disabled. A tune is worth it on these trucks.

How loud would this be towing a horse trailer? Want to have some sort of exhaust note but nothing that is going to drive me or the horses crazy when the truck is towing down the highway for hours

Just did muffler delete. Sound is perfect IMHO.

I don't think it would be loud for you or horses when towing. Road noise and trailer rattle will be louder for the horses than the exhaust.

This is quieter than the Summit dual cat-back I had on my 2001 Silverado. I am very pleased.

Yes - I do now notice a small variation in V4 that wasn't there before, but it isn't annoying by any means.

After much deliberation, I settled with a muffler delete and I clamped the valve open. More than pleased with the result.

Letting it break in before I decide to go the AFM Range route as well. So far, the drone/chop is VERY minimal both inside and out.

I have the 22” Magnaflow 12909 on my 6.2 and find myself wanting more. Debating between resonator delete or muffler delete. This thread has me leaning towards removing the muffler.
