Anyone use Fumoto F107N Oil Drain Valve?

Been seeing this and read some reviews, has anyone used it? Looks great and simple for us DIY guys.

As long as you have clearance it should be safe.

Seems like a good idea, and I am considering one as well, since I have 1 last free oil change left before I take over the duties.

These trucks have drain plugs that are easy enough to access, I don't see the need. I only run magnetic drain plugs anyway, so a drain valve would be a step backwards. Also adds another point of failure.

I had one on my Subaru worked great. But unless you are sampling your oil for Blackstone frequently, it really didn't save much time. If you do get one don't forget to tell your shop about it if you ever have someone else change your oil.

Though the drain plug might be easy to access on these trucks it is no different than my 08 Silverado. With the plug being on the side rather than bottom of the pan it is a PITA to drain. 8 quarts of oil come rushing out and you in up playing chase the drain pan. I use to milk the plug to help control the flow, but hot oil running down my hand and arm was never fun.

 

When I did my first oil change on my Sierra I installed the fumoto F107N. It has been on for almost 5 months, without any issues. My truck has been off road on a couple times as well as normal daily driving. I give it a look anytime I'm under the truck just to give me peace of mind. I highly recommend it.

Been using them for years. Never heard of anyone having a failure.

Magnetic plugs are good for staying up on the frame while your oil drains.

I am another one who got is first 4 oil changes for "free" but in a few months I will be changing it on my own again so I am considering this as well but I also worry about it failing. I only change my oil once a year (drive about 5k miles a year) so I will ponder it.

After watching this video by a member on here, its clear to see that having this valve will make it so much easier and cleaner, especially with a tube to container hookup.

Also notice the location of the drain plug, it looks like it will be protected fairly well.

Exactly - Makes changing the oil so mess free. I have run them on all my rigs old and new for decades. On the 2007.5 Duramax during a "free" oil change I handed it to the tech and they installed it for me. I like the kind with the nipple and keep it covered with the vinyl boot. I will zip on a small zip tie over the lever for insurance, just in case a "smart" stick or brush finds it's way to the valve.

Ok, since we all agree its a great item to have how about oils, without turning this to an oil thread.

Will using 5w-20 vs 0w-20 have any negative affects? Everyone sticks with 0w-20?

OW/20 at the correct temp acts the same as 5W/20. No reason to 2nd guess your owner's manual.

Just purchased F107-SX off amazon, will have it installed on my last free oil change!

Looks awesome, but changing the filter will make a big mess also. I'd rather have a magnetic bolt so I can visually check for shavings, etc.
