DC vs CC. What made your decision?

I was an extended cab person. That and the DC Texas Edition was 12K cheaper.

Double cab. No kids, better looks, lighter in weight = more payload, cheaper cost, full sized box without special order or dealer search, made in USA. My back seat ends up being folded and the floor used as a storage shelf anyway so no need for a crew. I buy CC's for my business though, extended cabs suck for a contractor. Believe it or not, my crew cab 2013 6L 2500 is heavier than my extended cab 2008 6.6L diesel 2500 by about 200lbs. I never would have thought that little bit of extra room and frame would make that much difference.

Wanted 6 1/2 foot bed. That's why I went with a double cab. Plus my wife has an Acadia. My boys are 6 and 9 and fit fine in it.

I like the looks of a CC better than the mini-door of a DC. Plus the resale value is there if I ever decide that route

I went crew cab with my '07, even before kids, and wouldn't be able to go back.  It seems like the stuff I want to haul will either fit in the shorter bed, or would stick out of the 6.5 bed anyways.

I still don't understand why everyone bitches about losing 9" of bed by going to Crew, but never worry about losing 18" by going to the double cab from regular cab.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am in the car seat boat myself, with one car seat you can put it in the middle and get by with a smaller back seat, with two the crew cab gives you much more room.

I also wanted a standard bed instead of a short bed.  Like many here, I didn't see much selection in a 1500.  So I just bought a 2500 instead, cc 6.5 bed.  I was a bit shocked when I went on the web site and did the build and price and found a 2500HD work truck, crew gasser actually had a *lower* MSRP than the 1500 in the same configuration, cc 6.5.

I'll confess, my gas mileage isn't great, but I got exactly the configuration I want and it's a hell of a lot of truck for the money.

I went looking for a CC, for grand babies and the occasional extra passengers, but ended up with a DC.  Which I'm fine with because my dirt bike fits a lot easier in it, and I think it looks more in proportion as opposed to the CC.  CC long bed is just too darn long for my liking.  Not to mention my turning radius is already bad, I can't imagine any more length added.  Having said that, wouldn't the wheelbase be longer on a CC std/long bed?

Crew Cab short bed and Double Cab standard(long) bed have the same wheelbase of 143.5". Overall length on both of these is 230.03"

Crew Cab standard(long) bed has a wheelbase of 153" with overall length of 239.57"

That's what I thought.  Thanks for confirming.  I certainly didn't want a longer wheelbase, but needed the bed room.

Funny that a std bed is now  6.5' ,where as  years ago, unless you could fit a 4'x8' sheet of plywood in your truck, you had a short bed.

Buddy of mine has a CC with the 6-1/2 foot bed. Looks like a school bus parked next to mine. Strange how ~10" could make such a difference. And he constantly reminds me of how he has ~10" more than me :(

Really wanted to get an All Terrain SLT DC with a 6.2 originally.   There were none available in Texas at the time so I ended up in a Crew Cab Short Bed 6.2. I ride by myself 90% of the time so a Double Cab would do.  They are less expensive but I think the market for them is more limited come time to sell/trade.

I had a 2014 DC W/T 4.3, 4x4. Traded it for a 2015 CC LS 5.3 4x4. I like the extra room in the cab for passengers, and don't mind the shorter bed. I built a hitch extension and when I use staps from the end of it, to the tie down points in the bed, I can haul 16' lumber decently. I tie a flag to the end of the lumber. The hitch extension has reflectors on it.

I have noticed the DC's are usually cheaper the CC's, more than I thought they would be.

I think these trucks look great in the double cab as well as a crew with the short or standard bed. I was actually looking for a used crew cab with either the short bed or 6.5' bed. When I saw Laura had some crazy incentives on the double cabs at the time, the wife and I went and test fit my daughter's car seat in one and drove it home. To me, the appeal of getting into a brand new truck for less than I was going to spend on a 3 year old truck with 30-40k miles was to good to pass up. I gave up some cab space but also gained some bed space (most of the used trucks I was finding were CCSB). I like the fact that my double cab was assembled in Indiana and I've found the slightly shorter wheelbase is nice in some parking lots (previous truck was an 03 2500HD CC 6.5' bed). I also keep a tool box in the bed so yes, the extra bed space is actually a plus as I do use my bed somewhat regularly.
