GM Factory That Completes the Build of Sierra and Silverado Starts Second Shift Today

In preparation for an expected surge of truck orders and purchases from buyers, GM is ramping up the production capabilities of the all-new GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado.

The Oshawa, Ontario Canada plant that builds the trucks will be adding a second shift to begin to build inventory. The Oshawa plant is the final paint and assembly location for double cab trucks. These are “re-imported” trucks that GM builds in Indiana, ships to Oshawa, and in many cases, then re-imports them to the United States. Oshawa, Ontario is just across Lake Ontario from New York State (north of Buffalo and Rochester). It is only about sixty miles from both and about 100 miles by land to Niagara. GM employs roughly 9,000 workers in Canada.

I didn't think the 2019 was being built at these two plants?  Is this still the 2018 model?

We have 5 2018 double cabs that are Oshawa built already.  The 2019's they are doing are the "Legacy" 2018 body trucks (all 2019 Legacy 1/2 tons will be Oshawa) and they will also be doing double cab 2019 HD as well (which are still the old body).

 

New body 2019 1/2 ton are Ft.Wayne and Silao.

They just slapped on new badging the Silverado is LD and the Sierra is limited

Yes, Oshawa is just building the K2XX version.

At what point are these trucks completed to when they arrive in Oshawa?  

And are we going to see a variation on what GM did in 2007 in regards to.mixing the generations?
