Would you buy?

Looking for advice from some knowledgeable people 

 

Would you buy a garage kept 1997 Silverado with 65,000 original miles for $6,500?  Has the vortec 305 not 350 and is 2wd seems to be in very nice condition guy bought 3 years ago from original owners they were an older couple had 45,000 miles says he drives every day to work has put about 20,000 miles on it 

He's firm on price originally wanted $8500 a month ago but has lowered to $6500 

That about maxes out my budget 

 

reliable to daily drive 

so I guess my question is would you buy this truck or look for something newer with higher miles?

Go drive it, if all drives good I would buy it. But I love that year of truck.

305 is a good engine. My last 305 was over 200K miles and I towed with it.

You probably wont have any issues.  Show up with 6 grand cash.  Id be surprised if he said no to that.  Its worth decent money but not a whole lot more than that.

I would definitely NOT look for something newer with higher miles. Barring any obvious issues, I would jump on that deal. You won’t find many of that era with that low mileage, especially garage kept.

I bought a 92 8 years ago that’s modified but cared for. Just general maintenance mostly. I did have to replace the front brake hoses that collapsed on the inside. They wouldn’t fully release the brakes. I had to convert the Freon that was only 200$. If the under side is clean the price is reasonable.

Reminds me of my Sport 2door Tahoe, super comfy seats. If it’s within your budget and you’re ok with it based on your requirements of what you need a truck for and you’ve done a car fax on it and passes well then sure. You’ll need to replace rubber bushings, hoses, belts, just about everything that weathers and cracks
