Man that really sucks and I would be furious. Have you checked the VIN# and sure that wasn't sitting on a dealer lot in another part of the country. No way that oxidation is normal. I have a 2017 and live in the Northeast where they will salt like hell and even worse, spray that liquid de-icer that is horrible for vehicles. My two year old truck is pristine compared to that.

Everytime I see pics of flooding on the news, I always wonder where some of the trucks end up from dealer lots. Considering what a new truck costs, I would go to battle over that, just over principal. Good luck, man. Hope you get this resolved.

GM vehicles BLOW when it comes to underbody protection.  After a few years the body still looks great but the underbody looks like it's 100 years old while my import vehicles look like new underneath after 15 years.  GM just blows

I am experiencing the exact same thing (salt corrosion) with a 2019 2500HD brought 2 weeks ago, with 26 miles on the truck, upon me taking ownership. Dealer could not get anywhere with GM. I've opened up a case file with GM directly and going to have a long discussion.  I cannot believe what I am experiencing right now. You would never think people would experience this on a new vehicle.

Any chance that truck was originally delivered to another dealer?

They swap vehicles all the time in this area.

Maybe call chat with the VIN and see if they can/will give you the history.

Those areas with the brown surface rust come that way directly from the factory. They are bare metal and are coated with rust when they roll off the assembly line. I'm not saying it's right, just saying they all come that way.

I have had 3 chevy trucks 1 being purchased brand new, none had that level of corrosion. first 2 I purchased had at least 90K miles on them at time of purchase. I live in Louisiana/Texas and have taken them to the beach multiple times within feet of the salt water and haven't had that kind of rust after

That's called rust browning, to protect the metal from corrosion.  We do it to muzzleloaders all the time; and rust bluing too!  ?

The window sticker will list the original dealer.

That is a good point.  Been a couple years ago but the local GMC Dealer in Northern Michigan 'dealer traded' a (loaded) Yukon XL Denali to a dealer in the NW US.  Seems it was the only one like it in the USA and they had a customer who wanted it ASAP.  I recall because I was taking delivery of a new truck the same day the truck arrived to pick it up and everyone was talking about it.

PS-I have seen over the years many car carriers loaded with new vehicles covered in road salt.  In this area they have to travel 100's of miles by truck to get to a dealer.
