Cats on the hood

Anyone have any recommendation on how I can keep neighborhood cats off the hood of my truck? I tried the cayenne pepper method and it didn't keep him (them) away.

I know they like to hang out on the hood because it's warm and the high vantage point they get. I've got nothing against cats, but I don't want them laying on the hood of the truck leaving small scratches on my black truck.

Thanks!

If a talk to the cat owner(s) doesn't do the trick, then do the same thing Jim Carrey did to his neighbor in Me, Myself & Irene - newspaper scene.

The first idea that came to mind is a motion activated light.  If that doesn't work, then maybe a motion activated horn/siren.  Ideally, a motion activated spray bottle would be the most annoying for cats and least annoying for the neighbors!  Otherwise, simply lay a mat on the hood of your truck.
