what to look for on a 6.0 1500

Recommended Posts

Ask about the AFM/DoD system, has it been replaced yet or fixed?

It's a very common issue on those 6.0's.

Ball joints are prone to failure on those years. Check for rust on the rear fender wells and the bottoms of all the doors under the weather strip.

4L70 in those (higher capacity 4L60).  Make sure it shifts good.  4L60 from 2005-2012 have a higher issue rate than the older ones seem to have.  We did plenty reaction sun shell (aka the salad bowl) replacements on 2007-2012 trucks.

The other two replies above pretty much hit the marks for a 6.0 Vortec Max 2007-2009.  AFM issues, oil consumption issues, body rust/rot.
