1978 C10 Fender well Resistor? What is this?

I'm not sure if this is factory or not, or what it really is for.  The wire attached isn't factory but the pad seems riveted on.  Anyone knows what this is?

I have no idea.  I assume it was a lead up to the battery but it wasn't connected when I pulled the fender well off.

Like river said, follow the red hot wire. Definitely not factory with the spade crimp connector. If I'm seeing right, it almost looks like resistor type heating coils. Definitely a curiosity, please let us know if you figure this out.

Looks like it is some type of resistor that heats up, kind of like a huge version of what you'd find in an older heater box.  But where it is mounted seems strange.  Odd.

Kind of looks like a blower motor resistor. Is there voltage on the red wire?Try turning on the blower motor and check the voltage then.I would think the blower motor resister would be inside the cab though...

Maybe the remnants of a trailer brake controller?..dunno..
