Part: GM 13525431, Receptacle Assembly, Multi Media *Jet Black

Just posting a thread on here if someone who has a 2019 Silverado with the one USB type B port, you can easily upgrade to a module that has a USB-C, USB-B, and an SD card port very quickly and easily in under 5 minutes.

I bought mine from eBay and it ran me $27.19 plus shipping.

I bought a trim removal kit on Amazon and used the one circled to pry it from the bottom and when the bottom popped out a bit, I pried it from the left side and it just popped out very quickly. After that, just unplug the old one and plug in the new one.

FYI, I also bought the module that just has just the USB-C and USB-B ports (without the SD card port) and I don't believe that one would work since it needs an extra cable to be plugged into and I was searching around and didn't find one -- you probably need a different harness for that one.

What I've noticed so far is that Apple CarPlay will pickup my iPhone a bit faster, skip through the songs a bit faster, and it charges my phone a bit faster, as well.

I haven't tried the SD card functionality yet but I can hope that it may be a necessary requirement for people that have IOR radios to upgrade to the IOS ones with navigation.

I had just recently replaced the single usb to the dual usb without the sd card slot in my 20 custom tb. It works just fine without the other cable plugged into it. Both USB ports work and they light up white as well. I had plug my phone and my wife’s phone in at the same time and the radio recognized both phones. The only thing that I don’t know is if the usb-c does the fast charging or not. That’s a mute point for me since I drive nearly 40 minutes to work.

I want to run one in my center console. But I dont want to do any splicing. Do you know the harness number or the connect? I know how to build harnesses so if i knew the connector numbers I could easily build the harness.

Does it light up and if so is it the same white color?

Yes it does and yes it is!

Good to know! I'll keep the one you installed in storage to see if someone comes out with some sort of harness to plug it in. Something tells me the extra cable is probably for higher data speeds?

It was just plug and play for me and I didn't have to do any splicing. If your truck has the port with just the one USB, you can plug in the existing plugs/cables into the one that has the USB type C, USB type B, and the SD card -- it's a direct replacement and you get the entire functionality of it.

But if you want to plug the one in there with just the USB type C and USB type B ports without the SD card reader, you're going to have to do some digging and maybe contact someone that has that already in their truck and see where it leads to.

My truck came with usb c and usb b from factory and trying to find this harness that goes up to the console so I can add wireless CarPlay and hide the dongle in the center console. Has anyone found Y harness part #

Just a note.  I did this in my truck, with the SD card, and neither plug can "charge" my Android phones while using Android Auto.  They just "maintain" charge.  I haven't tried the one without the SD yet...

My center console doesn’t have power. Didn’t come equipped with anything no rear outlets and nothing inside the armrest

I finally went ahead and ordered one of these from eBay for myself.  It'll be nice to have the USB-C port and the SD card slot.  I'll try to update after I get it and install it.

I installed this today. The usb works normally, I haven't tried the usb-c port yet. The sdcard slot seems to detect that I have inserted an sdcard, but it can't read the mp3s I have on it. I get a "No supported media found" message. Has anyone see this error before?

I figured it out. Windows would only let me format the card as exfat. I downloaded a program that allowed me to format the card as Fat32 and now the radio can read the mp3 files on the card.

Big thanks to @Semedar for posting this.  My part came in and I successfully swapped it in.

Here is the thread that I created to document my installation:

    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
    • So, lot's of googling and reading, and a trial fit found, that indeed they hit the newer fatter caliper. I did some re-testing today, and found just 3/16" worth of washers was enough for the wheel to spin freely. I added 2 more on each, and again it spun freely. Tested lock to lock with the 4 washers, about 5/16" not quite the 3/8" Im considering, but pretty close. No issues. I've been looking at the BORA .375" spacers and using extended lugnuts to get back lost thread due to the spacer. All the ET lugs I've seen are all .33" reach inside the wheel lug holes. For those that don't like spacers or think they're unsafe, I think it depends on what type of spacers you're using and making sure you get good quality hubcentric ones, and if you're using bolt on ones, regular mainenance, checking the spacer lugs. Not wanting or needing that much spread. Looking for the minimum that will let me run these rims and tires.  it does look to stick out a little, but I really want put these on. and use the stock all-terrains in the winter.
