Hi everyone,

I have a 2009 Sierra Denali which I really like and so does the miss :). Yet, I do a lot of off-roading in the deserts of Saudi Arabia and the AWD system is being pushed to its limits on certain occasions. Few weeks ago I drove a 2011 Sierra 2500HD (6.0 V8) and man that thing is tough! I immediately felt how rigid it drove on road compared to my Denali, which I totally understanding comparing how soft my suspension was compared to the Z71 on the 2500HD.

Is it worth it to get rid of my Denali and get a 2500HD instead? I like my Denali but it is not an off-road truck! My main reasons for favoring the 2500HD are:

4x4

Height and ability to easily add lift-kits

Rigidness/Toughness

This is the truck I drove the other night

Welcome.

I would say a 4wd system is going to be better offroading than an AWD system is. Either way both vehicles are nice.

Also nice photo in your sig. Not to often you get to see a GMC or Chevy with Camels next to them

I agree, the selectable 4x4 and low range would def. be a benefit off-roading. And that 2500 sure is nice looking too. I think if your using it more off-road, the 2500 would be a better choice

And Welcome to the site.

Welcome!!

I agree with others....sounds like the 2500HD would be a better choice for you!

Thanks everyone for your kind advice. Time to look for that 2500HD now and a buyer for my Denali!
