Need help pulling axle

Hello everyone! I am trying to pull my axle to fix an issue on my 2000 Silvy 1500 z71. I opened the differential cover and discovered that my rear end has a G80 gov-loc. My brother says I need to disassemble this before I can remove the other parts necessary for removing the axle. I have been searching for a while and can't find any parts break downs or instructions. Does anyone know of any resources that could help me? Thanks!

I would strongly suggest getting a subscription to alldatadiy.com. It has helped me with my truck all the time. It will have all the details you need.

My 98 K1500 had the locker and all I had to do was take out the lock bolt, pin and C clips in the differential to remove the axles but maybe they changed things. The bolt had permanent loc-tite so it was necessary to heat the bolt to break the bond before removing the bolt.

No need to disassemble the differential any more than you would an open differential. Getting the axle retaining clips out can be a bit tough because of access limitations due to the locking block but a small, thin magnet does the trick nicely. Remove cover, remove differential cross pin retaining bolt, remove cross pin, push axles in slightly and remove axle retaining clips. Reverse procedure to reassemble.

Agree on the AlldataDIY.com thing. I don't have access to anything Chrysler so I use it for information when working on my gf's Jeep Grand Cherokee from time to time. Got my $27 out of it already.
