Knock Sensors on 2004 5.3 Revisited 2 years later

All,

CEL popped on today, P0332, which I immediately knew were for the knock sensors. I repaired this once before, using new wiring, two new sensors, RTV'ing the hell out of the plugs, new intake gaskets, the whole thing.

We had a hell of a thunderstorm here in RI yesterday, and everything was absolutely drenched. The truck was not driven at all during it, but this was the first trip with it in about a week or so (1991 corvette is my summer DD), and the CEL came on after about 45 miles of driving.

I am thinking it got wet in there, and the water is messing with the signal being sent to the ECM. I am going to clear the code and see if it comes back, but I think a week or so of driving should dry everything out.

Am I missing something here? I used plenty of RTV around the sensor Plugs, and removed those useless foam front/rear intake seals that didn't do a damn thing.

Why would this ever come back on, let alone in two years? Is it more likely that once of the POS knock sensors I bought from AutoZone actually failed or is sending an innacurate reading due to being made in CHINA???

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Have you cleared the code and tried driving it. Sometimes a code thrown can be a fluke.
