GM Truck Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning

Anyone have this on their 2014 GM Truck. I test drove a 2014 Silverado recently and was not impress. To be fair the salseman did not fully understand the system. It would be nice to hear some comments from a 2014 Cheverolet truck owner.

Thanks

I don't have it but it's a waste of money IMO...

I've had the forward collision alert grab my attention when the car in front hit the brakes and I wasn't paying attention. I like them both.

I have it, didn't go out of my way to get it. I can say this, I had it on 3 previous vehicles, the lane departure will keep you honest! I for one do like the fact that you can select either the audible warning or the vibrating seat.

Great feature/system for the chronic text'n'driver :).

My salesman told me that the Collision alert would apply the brakes to avoid a crash. Obviously he was wrong. All it does is provide a heads up alert but I have seen that it will disengage the cruise control. Lane departure can be a pain, especially if you spend a lot of time on one lane country roads as you may be alerted to the point where you just want to turn the thing off. I would not have paid anything for these two features but came with the truck. What I would have liked to have would be blind side warning on the mirrors like my wife's Lexus, which works very well.

Okay Jonathan. How about an official response from GM on the seat issue, lack of lights on radio knobs etc.?

Right now all we get is lip service from the dealers. You want to help? Put the info out for all to see instead of only private messages.

GM has had long enough to come up with a fix.

Hello Texrock,

We are currently working with our internal resources, and are awaiting an official response regarding the radio knobs. We do not have any additional information at this time regarding the other concerns. We would be happy to pass along anything we hear to you guys once we receive any information regarding the items mentioned.

How about the seats that squeak like crazy and move around? Had it in once and the "fix" was done but was broken again within two days...

The most annoying part of the truck for me is to pump gas!! This is the first time I see a plastic holding (or not) the gas tank filling tube. Every time I pump gas the nuzzle handle jumps as if it finished pumping, and I know it's not. I think it's because of the plastic tube mount, the nuzzle is not solid in place and it triggers the nuzzle to stop pumping.

Anyone experiencing this??

Yes, I have a 2014 Silverado Double Cab. This has happened to me several times. Once the fuel nozzle came flying out shooting gas all over. Took the truck to the dealer, the claim 'must be the service station pumps'. I have filled at that station (Costco) hundreds of times on my '99 Silverado, no problems until the 2014 Silverado. Had to "drip" feed it last fill.

had mine a month, 2014 GMC SIERRA CREW CAB 1500.

I got 5 miles away from dealership and noticed the shaking felt all threw it from steering wheel and seat.u can see the center console wobbling.

turned around and went back to dealership.

they balanced the tires for 2 hours and i drove it home FELT THE SAME, STILL SHAKING. 45-75 MPH

NEXT DAY, they took the 20" rims and tires off another one in inventory and put on mine SAME SHAKING

NEXT DAY , they kept it for a week and all they did was balance and road force tires . SAME, STILL SHAKING.

NEXT, TOOK IT TO ANOTHER GMC DEALERSHIP, they had a bulletin that said remove drive shaft, rotate it 180 degrees, SAME SHAKING GOING ON.

i traded in an 07 GMC that DID NOT SHAKE DOWN THE ROAD.

I WISH I HAD IT BACK.

THEY TELL ME KNOW ONE ELSE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM !! BULL

Have a new 2014 Silverado Double Cab 5.3 with 3.08 with 1,400 miles on it. Had tires forced balanced. Same problem still exists.. shakes/vibrates 45-75 MPH. It is subtle, however very annoying. It feels like something in the drivetrain. Ran a 1999 Silverado for 272k miles, never vibrated like this. At this point would trade it back.

Yes the stop pumping has happened to me several times too and at different stations. It acts like it is full but definitely not since I have always had less than a quarter tank in it. It seems like after I get a few gallons in it that I can then set it to pump itself but not at the furthest notch. It gets annoying to drip feed it for sure and takes a while to fill it up. So far only once has it popped out and spilt gas all over...what a mess!
