Why didn't they leave that tailgate in the 90s where it belongs?

Finally! Every cowboy and country boy I know will get their wishes fulfilled! A4 banger full size!

I don't see any mention of the big V8? Did they drop it?

Yeah, 6.2 in not offered on the announcement page. Not sure if any future trims levels will have it?

Thinking the biggest issue with these will be cost. Twin turbos intercoolers & aluminum body panels will drive that.

The dash looks alot like a hummer and the end pod vents remind me of my Fiero end vents. Nothing new. I see they are rounding the front end for aero effects. I question some of their claims. They never have rated towing the way it should be, like GM does. They have some great ideas but the exterior reminds me of a turdota. They look wierd with the big empty wheel wells. Lastly they sit to high with no additional ground clearence.

I just heard GMs sigh of relief lol. They must feel damn good about their trucks compared to this lackluster remodel.

Not the best exterior but that interior rocks! They are talking possibly up to 30mpg. Something to think about even though I'm a diehard GM buyer. I'm going to check it out.

Meh. All this talk of weight loss when previously Fords were already hundreds of pounds heavier than a GM truck. So now they've just caught up or at best have a slight advantage.

Fornt end ok but tundra like, tailgate/chrome insert not ok. Dash layout, symetrical which I like but i'd hate to dump my coffee when I hit the shifter on the way back to the cup holder. Wheel well accents, big round and archy. Really big, really round, really archy.

The real world '14 Silverado 5.7L mpg numbers have dissappointed enough that I have decided to hold onto my current Dmax, maybe the new real world F-150 (if available with a small V8) mpg numbers will be enough to sway me. I'll have to wait until owner mpg numbers start coming in....

Hi there!

I just wanted to shed some light on your concern regarding the '14s MPG figures.

The 2014 Silverado is only available in 4.3L V6, 5.3L V8, and a 6.2L V8 at this time. I'm not sure if you have referenced the MPG threads on this site or not but the numbers the 2014 is pushing out.. in terms of gas mileage.. is better than any previous generation full size truck. The actual real world driving MPG is closer, if not actually better, to whatever the advertised configuration claims.

I don't mean to get in a pissing match, but a family member of mine owns at 2007 (classic) Duramax, an amazing vehicle I will say, but that truck has never seen over 16-18mpg, even bone stock. I do own a '14 and I level the pedal off the line and I still average 16-19mpg not taking it easy. When I do take it easy with average driving, doing the actual speed limit everywhere I go... I average 21mpg or greater and that's about 50/50 city/highway.

Just my 2 cents, friend!

Edit - My MPG calculations are figured off of DIC and actual calculations both full tank, 25 mile and 50 mile ranges.

Appreciate your reply, great info, and it was my bad I meant 5.3L :sigh: . I am getting '14 Silverado 5.3 mpg numbers from various threads, and fuelly.com. The information you posted regarding your '14 mpg correlates with these sources.

My own bone stock '06 LBZ Dmax gets significantly better mileage than your '07 Classic Dmax reference (every tank tracked since day one using GPS logged miles, not less accurate odometer numbers):

Daily commute of 45 miles (65% highway at 70mph, 35% city): 15.9 mpg

Highway trips at 65-70 mph: 17.5-18.5mpg

Highway trips at 55-60: 19.5-20mpg

Lifetime vehicle average (includes truck camper/trailer hauling duties): 15.0mpg

A '14 Silverado 5.3 would save me 15-20 gallons a month, that's just not significant enough for me at this time. BOT (sorry), I still await the new F-150 mpg numbers.

Absolutely Sir!

Those numbers are excellent to read for reference on your LBZ! I am happy you included high trips in mph tiers because I would say that's likely the factor in the 07 Dmax I know of. His commute is an honest 90% or greater highway miles @ 75-80mph (Northern Border State)

I agree that it might not be the best approach to commit to a vehicle that might only save 15-20 gallons/mo. but I hope you the best of luck finding exactly what you are looking for to accommodate your needs!

Nope, hence its usually only seen on more expensive vehicles. I read somewhere that using aluminum will cost Ford about $800 extra vs using steel per vehicle on the new F-150.

Moving on to my take on the new F-150, its got my attention. I need a truck, it has to be a V8 or diesel or electric (no overcomplicated biturbo 4's or 6's for me thank you very much), I can only afford one vehicle, and I currently spend $400/mnth on fuel and that number has to come down.

I smell a troll. Only 5 posts, bashing the GM trucks and pumping up the Ford....

Fugly machine and only got worse than their current ones.

I like their forward thinking but a lot things are just not "legitimate", like their turbo engines, entire tailgate, and bed cargo system.

The fact that I would never even consider one of their trucks is an understatement so I'm a little biased.

Although in a way I do understand the smaller engines and general direction because of the variety of people that buy trucks nowadays.

Where did he bash GM Trucks? All he said about GM was he was disappointed with current MPG of the new ones and is holding onto his duramax. He didn't pump ford up either, try reading his post again.

The new GMs are disappointing... Or I would be buying one.

Is it hard to compute some people aren't H-core GM fanboys?
