I replaced my black hooks on my ‘18 with OE red ones last summer. Was definitely scratching my head on that decision for that one bolt. 🤪

If it wasn’t for the video  I watched  on how to get it out then it definitely would’ve  been a head scratcher moment but  if you have the right tools it wasn’t hard to get out just more time consuming to get out then anything but definitely worth it

Oh 100%. I watched a few videos, and just ended up doing the Dremmel method and cut that sucker off since the new hooks came with new bolts.

I used a multi-tool with a metal blade hard to use while using channel locks to hold it down on one side  while I was cutting it  with the tool on the other side ,not that easy lol  ahh  man wish I would’ve gone that route I had to hound and find mine Home Depot didn’t have the same bolt  so I had to go to two other spots till I found it at ace hardware

This weekend, my alternator decided to take ******. This was one of the easiest alternator replacements I've done. What I couldn't believe it was $526.36 (with a discount applied)!!  I know I'm getting old, but what happened to the days of them costing $$175- 250? I will add that I bought it from the dealership. The local part stores were a little cheaper, but they were remanufactured. So, in the end, I did pay $20-30 more going to the dealership, but it was what it is.

I’m old enough to have experienced replacing alternators, starters, spark plugs quite often. I have vehicles with over 150K with the same parts mentioned. Except the plugs I change them at 100-125K. So I don’t mind paying more because they last longer. I’m thinking of getting the starter changed just to keep from getting stranded on the road. My complaints are after 6 speeds transmission in a 1/2 ton or SUV they’re being ridicules. Too many driving aides. Too much interference. And they made the engines unreliable for little gain shutting down cylinders.

Old Battery going like the Energizer Bunny!

10 years, 1 month and 20 days. That is how old the OEM factory installed battery is in Pepper. It was cranking a bit slow and charging 14.8 - 15.2 volts pretty continuously coming out of winter so though I'd replace it. I do have it on a Battery Tender off and on over her winter naps.

Nah....test it first. Belle Tire did a load test and it came up that the battery was slow because it was slightly discharged. 73% state of charge. Health was at 81%. So....the tech says take it for a long drive, she's fine.

I followed that advice and eventually (200 miles) it did drop to 12.4 volts (Alternator idle). At that point it measured 12.6+ volts and over 95% State of Health. I really like GM's Smart Charging systems. Guess I need to keep that Tender on more on the off. 🤔

Any signs of it failing? I can hear a very faint squeak at times at the front of my engine, just wondering if it is my alternator. The noise is so quiet, I don't think most would even notice it. Just had the water pump, all belts, and idler pully replaced.

Over the past few weeks, I've noticed voltage fluctuations on the instrument volt meter. I replaced the battery 2 weeks ago, which reduced fluctuations, but it still wasn't normal. This past weekend, the volt meter dropped just below 10 volts while driving. Thankfully it didn't leave me stranded on the side of the road.

Had rough country 2" leveling kit installed. Along with Fuel Offroad 18x9 +1 offset tech wheels; wrapped in Falken At4w 285/65R18 LT's.
