It would be better if the frameless mirror was actually the same mirror used in the new CT6.

Agreed!!

Just looked it up and I don't think they are auto dimming. Pass.

I think there's a new version with auto dim but it's 300 bucks...

I just got mine in the mail yesterday. Was the install pretty straightforward? Does the valence need to be temporarily removed to get the front plate in place? No additional bolts, etc needed?

It is really easy. It come with the extra self tapping bolts. The hardest part is holding up the plates and installing the self tapping bolts. I recommend adding all the original bolts keeping them loose then doing the self tapping bolts & tighten everything up. Do not over tighten cuz you can strip them. You do not have to remove the front lower valance to do the install, I just wanted more to see if I would like the look of it removed.

Here is a copy of a write up member DanY made for a how too.

Should take only 15-20 minutes.

You need a 10mm socket and 15mm socket.

Remove the plastic guard by removing the 2 - 15mm bolts from the radiator support. Then remove the 4 - 10mm bolts from under the engine.

Remove the 2 brackets by removing the 4 - 15mm bolts from the front and rear A-frame crossmembers.

Install the rear skid plate using the same 4 - 15mm bolts in the same position as the brackets.

There are 2 holes in the front crossmember just in front of the new rear plate that need tapped with 2 of the new self-tapping bolts. Then install the front plate using these 2 new holes and the 2 existing holes in the radiator support.

I'm adding the link to my new imgur.com album, hopefully your can see them. Sorry about the crappy installed pics. Can't get a good shot without the truck being on a lift.

The frameless mirrors are available in auto dim and non auto dim. I got mine on eBay for $75 shipped. You can get the correct pinned harness from gen5diy and do it your self or buy the auto dim frameless mirror and wire harness kit from them.

FYI if you get the non auto frameless mirror it is plug and play.

For the auto dim mirror to work you have to add wires or get the gen5diy wire harness.

Yesterday I also ordered a Kent Moore TPMS tool. These new trucks just cost more and more money. I've been rotating my tires for 50k+ miles and never knew until recently that these trucks needed the re-learn tool, I assumed they just automatically reset their position when the vehicle has been shut off overnight and waiting for a reading from the sensor when you start rolling. So that and the water filtration system took up my play money from my paycheck lol042cc5bf0f3c245cd3bb6b2a8385d6e5.jpg

Also hit the truck with the foam cannon today, looks good when you stay on top of cleaning it haha1d21de5891f56f4c52b503aff47558be.jpg6108919f2944b31175c8169a6c2c4b87.jpg

And to top it all off I loosened up my helper springs. I was aiming to get a better ride out of it and still have the spring assistance but I think I backed them off too far, ass end kind of feels a little loose now

Did that TPMS tool work for these trucks? In need of one myself.

I ended up cancelling that order as there was one cheaper from a fellow member on here. It was the non branded one on ebay you see for $50 and it does its job perfectly. Just need to make sure you hold the button to reset the sensors and not just hit it once

Truck is almost done at the shop...when I get it back, I'll be going up 4" (2.5" level / 1.5" BL) and running either 33x12.5R20 or 295/55R20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers or Toyo MTs. Wheels will be ordered very soon and I'm debating 20x10 vs. 20x12. It seems like nobody's been able to get that much wheel and tire to work on a 4" without hacking up the fenders much, so unless someone can confirm it works, it'll be 20x10 for me. Put back together soon enough...

I drew power from my dual battery system you can see a bit of in the lower right corner. Mounted a toggle switch in the plastic (red light at lower right corner). LED strip is from Diode Dynamics's. Was supposed to be 100cm but they sent me 200cm so I cut the strip to fit. Secured it with zip ties and square adhesive zip tie mounts.

Really thought it was silly to not have light under the hood. Nicely done!
