Transmissions Issues/Problems

Guys I don't think this is GM turning any blind ear to you all. It ultimately lies on the dealer to diagnose the issue and then to follow the repair procedure that GM has set forth. If the dealer doesn't or cant do that it leaves you holding the bag in the end.

I just posted a new thread and will try to assist as much as I can.

well, I guess I've found where to be in regards to my crappy shifting 2015 Sierra. Has anyone determined what actually fixes the problem, at the dealership? I have 2000 miles on mine and it's driven bad since I got it 12-29-14. I talked to the dealership today on the phone about how bad it drives. They said to bring it in, but there was probably nothing they could do to fix what I described. Then I started a google search and found this thread. So, has anyone found a real problem solver or getting ran around in circles? A 50K truck and I'm pretty disappointed. Thanks!!!

Sorry about the transmission problems my 2014 gmc transmission was also bad .good luck with GM corporate. I had vibration issues with my truck. GM corporate told me there was nothing wrong with my truck so therefore they would not do anything to help me. I had to trade my 2014 gmc $ 40,000 truck to get a truck with no problems . I lost $ 9,000 on this gmc so good luck with GM corporate they will not help they will push you back to dealer.

Todd, I respectfully disagree. The dealers can't diagnose and follow a repair procedure from GM if GM refuses to formally recognize the issue and offer a fix. And fix isn't even the proper word here. These transmissions are performing the way GM engineered and programmed them to, so in their eyes there is no need for a "fix". I truly believe this is due to a purposeful decision on GM's part to forego performance for the sake of fuel mileage. Period. I think their thought process was to put this product out to market as is because "John Q Public won't know the difference". For the relatively small group of us that do know the difference, they ARE turning a blind ear. The least they could do is allow the dealers to change the tune for those of us that what it. I for one would be more than willing to give up a few MPG to get decent performance out of my tranny. I feel like I bought a 50K piece of junk and I feel GM duped me. Being a long time GM guy, this leaves me in a bind with nowhere to go. So my options are what? Dump my Sierra and then what? Get a Ford, Dodge, GOD forbid a Toyota!!!! No offense to any of those brand owners, those just aren't my cup of tea. Thanks a lot for the rock and a hard place GM!

My question is this, can I take my truck to a transmission shop and have them correct this problem? At this point I don't care about the warranty, I want to enjoy the truck and I can't do that with the clunking and the bogging down.

I doubt its anything mechanical . Maybe in some rare cases but its all in how the stupid computer is bucking the car back and forth. The flair shift, the confused shift ..Those are all computer tunning. Im no expert but i would imagine its alot cheaper then opening a trans up.

I've felt like there were no issues with my truck. Felt that I was one of the lucky ones. Took it in to get a detail done and they gave me a loaner Sierra. This thing accelerates and shifts great. It has 4001 miles and mine has 1000. I noticed when stomping on the gas to leave a light that my truck would feel like it's pulling power and would shudder a little but nothing severe. This truck is more like a rocket ship in comparision. I did notice that the loaners tires are sitting at 32 psi and my tires are at 42. When I go in to pick up my truck I'm gonna ask them about what if any, is there a difference in what version of software is on this loaner compared to mine.

My humble guess is that they will give your the ole "normal " talk :)

Same with my truck. One instance I was in the turning lane slowing down with brake slightly waiting for a car nine left lane to pass so I could pull into said lane, but, as the car passed I took my foot off the brake and hit the gas to get in the flow of traffic and the truck did nothing, I mean nothing. Like the truck was engulfed in a stupid confusion, it sat there while I pressed the gas pedal further and further getting pretty worried about the whole new set of cars getting bigger and bigger in my mirrors. I took my foot off gas and pushed back in and it finally roared forward spinning the tires like I was 16 all over again, only this time I was scared...

The transmission has acted up from time to time but a similar incident may have the potential to cause a wreck given the right circumstances.

Wasn't towing anything. Completely stock sierra 5.3 2wd 3:42 gears.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I was turning left at an intersection with cars coming towards me. I had a break in the oncoming traffic, so I took my foot off the break and tried to accelerate. My truck began to roll in front of the oncoming cars because of a slight grade that I was on, but it didn't accelerate like it should have. I took my foot off the gas and tried again only to launch my truck through the turn at the intersection (unexpectedly fast) with the oncoming cars being dangerously close. It scared me too.

This past weekend, with the truck at full operating temp, I stomped on mine from a dead stop with the T/C off to see what it could do with T/C off, which barely barked the tires. As soon as it went to shift into second with my foot still to the floor, the truck let off the gas to shift, but then didn't actually shift right away. It took several seconds to shift. I had enough time for my passenger and I to notice something was wrong, look at each other as a reaction, then for me to look down at the speedo and see the truck was slowing down. Then it finally dropped into second and off we went through the rest of the gears like nothing happened.

I figure I hit some edge case software bug under the right conditions, which I will never known when it will happen again. I learned to drive the truck with more room around me in my driving because I never know when the truck will decided it will not actually do what I've asked it to do.

I'm so unsatisfied with the performance of my truck. I've been back to the dealer several times complaining about the hesitation, the bogging/lagging at slow speeds in traffic, and the poor shifting. It most often feels like I'm driving a stick shift vehicle in 3rd gear when i should be in 2nd gear and waiting for the RPMs to to finally catch up and meet the correct gear. The dealer opened another ticket, called GM and I was told its "a normal characteristic of the truck" if they are no codes or troubles there is nothing they can do to help me...GM even said drive another new one to compare, I did, and it did the same things (but mine seems to do it a lot more often and worse)

I just want to NOT HATE DRIVING MY TRUCK!

everyone demands great gas mileage.... whatever it takes... even your truck runs like total junk. GM will do whatever it needed to claim 1 MPG better than Ford. I personally would take 2 mpg less to have it shift like my 2002 Silverado.
