After it was announced that the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado would get a round of Rally packages, it seems GMC has something up its sleeve as well. Today, the brand announced the 2015 Sierra Carbon Edition.

Packaging is similar but not the same as the Silverado Rally but the premise of different but similar editions remains the same.

Sierra Carbon 22 Edition

The 22 will be offered on Sierra SLE double and crew-cab models. It adds unique graphics featuring a carbon fiber like appearance. A black grille and body colored handles and mirror caps add a distinctive look.

As you'd guess, the 22 features 22-inch black alloy rims. It also features standard fog lamps, remote keyless entry, universal home remote, dual zone climate, and a 110-volt outlet.

Sierra Carbon 20 Edition

The 20 is only offered on SLE double cab. It has the same painted grille and carbon fiber graphics as the 22. As you'd also guess, it rides on smaller 20-inch wheels and gets the same goodies as the 22

Sierra Carbon Edition

Lowest Carbon Edition trim, features unique carbon graphics and the same painted grille and bits from the 20 edition. It also features the same goodies as the 22 and 20 without any specific rims.

All Carbon Edition pickups can be had with the 4.3L V6 or 5.3L V8 EcoTec3 engines and in 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive.

The Carbon Edition starts at $33,075, while the 20 will run $38,275 and the 22 starting at $42,270.

“The beauty of the new Sierra lies in its strength and sophistication,” said Stuart Pierce, Sierra marketing manager. “But for customers wanting to stand out and make a strong statement, the Sierra Carbon Edition models are the answer.”

That's a good looking factory option. Those colors blend well together. I really wish they made the 6.2 available in the medium trim levels.

Putting Carbon Fiber stickers on it to call it a 'Carbon Fiber Edition' seems pretty weak to me. I saw one while picking up my Denali. Had 22' black steel wheels.......not impressed.

It's all about perception...

One can argue about the way they do it but it still looks good imo.

I wish GM would stop with all of these gimmick package trucks.

Seriously, it's nothing more then certain options rolled into one "package name". These trucks do not contain one of a kind, special parts or have serious alterations to make them more capable. GM really needs to stop messing around in the off road department. Dodge has a new Power Wagon that is extremely capable and a good price. Ford has the Raptor. Both of these have physical changes that are significant. I am not even a Ford or Dodge guy but I would consider switching teams if it meant being able to buy an off-road ready truck right off the lot, that was built that way. Heck the new Power Wagon comes with a built in winch, front and rear E-lockers, Duratracs from the factory, all kinds of goodies, and for like 50K out the door. GM wants 50K just for a half ton Silverado that is "kinda sorta" loaded up.

GM, you need to start giving a lot more for less money. We need truck packages with REAL mechanical hop ups already done, not stickers and painted wheels with an extra charge of 5K for that crap!

Look at what you get here for about 50K. It pains me to say this but it's no wonder Dodge is grabbing market share like no one's business. They are coming out with some really nice trucks, loaded with features, and all for less money than the competitions trucks that are just "so so" in the feature department.

The Raptor is gone now and the Power Wagon is a laughably low-volume vehicle.

And Ram has gained market share because dealers are willing to knock $10k or more off the price of a new truck. Nice right now but it dooms trade-in values and it's not sustainable.

Off-road trucks are nice and they attract a lot of attention but a turnkey truck is going to be more money than most are willing to pay. Stuff like that gets people in showrooms but the Raptor and Power Wagon have to make up a single-digit percentage of overall sales. The Raptor is fairly popular but I've never seen a newer Power Wagon on the road, not even a Chrysler test rig and I see just about everything else they have as I live about 20 minutes from Chelsea where their primary test facility is.

But it still comes down to dollars and value.

The Power Wagon is off road ready at 50K. The Silverado is a city slicker at 50K. My point is simply that an optional package needs to have more than decals and a new name. Physical add ons like winches, electronic locking diffs, suspension mods, need to be factory. I think the market is there for trucks that are ready to take more right off the lot.

Sure, it's a small percentage of the market, but it isn't a dead category. The reason we don't see more of these vehicles is because they are not offered on a wide scale. The Raptor itself is very overpriced, plus every dealer I have seen in my area only stocks one, or will only bring one in on special order. I haven't seen any Power Wagons on the lots either, and I think that is because they are a totally new truck, probably will start showing up on lots any time now.

A $50k Power Wagon and a $50k Silverado are different beasts-

$50k will get you a nicely loaded up Silverado. Or the same will get you a lightly optioned Power Wagon. Right now though Ram is offering $5k off these so there is a bit more room to option up the truck but for the sake of fairness I'm comparing MSRP to MSRP.

The 10k rebate on the Rams won't affect you on trade in value if you run it until the wheels fall off. Most people don't do this though.

    • Holy smokes. Clearly not a deal on that truck. I just mean in general, matte or painted trim is becoming more normative than chrome, but I know the Black Optics packages on various vehicles are being sold as uplevel trims. They look really good, but sheesh. It's just paint and plastic.
    • I Wouldn't Know Where to Begin    Oh I know where I would begin but I'm just one of over eight billion people on this rock. Eight billion versions of where the goal post is. How large it should be. How far to kick from. What ball is the right ball. Elevation. Age.....are you getting the point? It isn't about disagreeing with one individual. It's about agreeing only with one individual. One's self.   Agreement comes when multiple people hold the same point already. THAT is the goal of an education. Building the Social Contract. That thing that allows us to all read this sentence. We've agreed on the alphabet and how to arrange those letters into words we agree upon whose meanings hold true for everyone entering into that contract. Those words arranged into a sentence form an idea and several sentences strung together in a paragraph convey an argument for or against or inform the reader of a state, condition or perhaps reveal a things nature. Paint a word picture. Make oneself known.    This contract is not limited to words although they are often explained by words. Things like numbers and their usefulness. Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Music, Art and so on.    The frequency of middle C (C4) is 261.63 Hz is a first principle. We build on that to make music we all can enjoy even if we all can not compose or play. You don't have to master it to make it enjoyable and useful.    So why is the Beginning so difficult? Why is agreement so elusive?   Everyone "Signs" the contract (when receiving that education in obtaining it)  but fewer and fewer in this world have any intention of living by that contract. They find exploiting that contract more advantageous. Disruption. With intent. Without intent. In Ignorance. In your face. With a double dog dare you. With a hold my beer. In resistance to that contract and in spite how it looks on us. It permeates the very air we breath.    In this way the contract is subject to advantage. Abide by it when it serves you, disregard it when it doesn't. Unpredictable and self-serving. Corrosive.....Toxic........   It says a lot about a persons character to disregard the contract, the truth, first principles. None of it good.        ********************************************************   https://medicine.yale.edu/news-article/character-vs-personality-who-we-are-and-who-we-aspire-to-be/   Just an interesting article.
    • It costs $5,250 for the Yukon Nightfall option (black wheels, emblems and illuminated black GMC grill badge). What a "deal".
    • I keep getting the above error message on my 25 Sierra.  If I reset the infotainment unit (via the phone hang up button) it will work again for a day or 2.   But I dont want to do have to reset  all the time. Works fine in my 2023 Corvette. On both vehicles I connect wirelessly.   I have a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, phone is up to date.  Any Ideas.  See attached
    • LOL, its thrown a few people because this item is being talked about in the gas part of the HD forum. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to put a very brief wording in your profile with the year/GM or Chev/2500 or 3500/ and yes the 6.6 Duramax. When I joined this forum I could see the confusion ensuing for my own truck unless I had it listed with my chosen name handle unless one has a few vehicles that apply to a GM forum as that becomes confusing as well. Anyway its all good, makes for a little forum excitement 😉
