So I was floating around the forums and I saw that someone had these covers that go over the 2 openings on the frame that are in the wheel well. But I forgot where that post was and now I can't find it. Does anyone have these covers or caps? or even know the name so I can buy some? If you have pics feel free to post them!

Are you talking about the inner fender wells? If so you can go on GMs website and click on accessories and the part numbers are listed there.

Are you talking about these? I bought 4 at Menards and filled the holes with them. You can see the part number. I didn't do the original post and this picture came from that post.

I'm pretty sure the wheels well liners cover those spots you have circled.

 

No the wheel liners do not cover those holes.

I just cleaned mine out, oiled the crap out of the holes, and covered them with something along the lines of what you see in the picture. I just epoxied around the plastic and it's been holding fine.

They are 2.75" capplugs. Do a google search. I know McMaster Car has them.

what is the purpose of these two openings in the frame? I am planning to plug them with some of the plugs mentioned in this thread, but what is the purpose behind even putting these holes here?

This X100!!! Can't keep water out, only in!

 

The holes are where the tubular crossmembers attach to the frame. It's stronger to have them go all the way through.

and its just lighter to leave them open instead of making them solid?

 

causing it to just be better to leave them open for that extra 0.05 MPG that we probably gain from them not being solid. (or atleast better for GM when they run the EPA mileage tests)
