I got $11K off the MSRP of $44K on my 2015 Silverado LT 2WD Crew Cab Texas Edition back in July 2015. In addition I received $1K more on my trade than other dealers would offer.

The Top of the Line GMC is the Denali. The Top of the line Chevrolet is the LTZ. If you look at the Denali vs the LTZ the Denali is a step up from the Chevy LTZ. Now that does not mean that you could equip a GMC exactly like a Chevrolet, rather you can get a nicer vehicle with the GMC if you wanted to... Also I think the GMC may come with a few things that are slightly nicer, I know back in the 90's the GMC would come with an under the hood light for when you opened it, but the Chevy it was not even an option.

Also I have been looking at the 2007-2014 Chevy Tahoe vs the GMC Yukons, and the Chevy Tahoes are rusting out on the fenders, I have yet found a GMC with the rust... I believe that the GMC have slightly better corrosion resistant bodies.

All is a myth.

Yes, interior packages may be slightly different. Denali being one.

Made on the same assembly line by the same workers using the same components.

The myth, of course, lives on. Even some/many salesmen/women will claim some fictitious difference.

Sometimes perception becomes reality for some.

"Since 1999, the Chevy Silverado has become the "standard" model GM full-size pickup truck, while the GMC Sierra offers more luxurious interior options (like leather seats and a more intricate dash) along with a boxier trim, particularly in the wheel weels. As far as torque and horsepower are concerned, they feature the same exact capabilities. So then, to answer the initial question, from a purely power-focused perspective, there is no difference between the GMC Sierra and the Chevy Silverado."

Actually, the top of the Chevy line is now the Highlander. I believe it was introduced model year 2014. Just a side note about GMC vs Chevy quality; way back in the day, talking 50's and 60's, there was a saying that a GMC was a Chevy built with washers. Kinda corny I guess, oh well

Top of the line Chevy is the High Country package, a Highlander is a Toyota.

I was not talking about the power-focus as you put it, I was talking about the vehicles in general. Yes they come down the same line, same workers, but the GMC typically has standard items that the Chevy deems as an Option. The Fact remains that in my search for a 2007-2014 Yukon or Tahoe, I have yet to find any (undamaged) Yukons with rust on the front fenders like I have with the Chevy. I am not saying they are not out there, I just have not run into any, but I have seen many Tahoes & Suburbans with rust on the front fenders, and the rear quarters, but not one Yukon. I personally believe that they do something slightly better to the GMC panels than the Chevy panels...

Just my observations.

And yes it is the "High COuntry" It appears that the Z71 Package is missing from Chevy's website...

I don't think so. Having worked on a GM assembly line years back. Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Chevrolet (not Buick). Everything was the same. Obviously, trim/paint/interior. The metal and paints were the same - some different colors.

Now would the truck factory spray more Nox-Rust on metal parts on GMC and not on Chevrolet. Maybe. But I doubt it.

Rub a fingernail on frame of any new truck. There is this black wax like material. But only on the frame the last new truck I had. Surface rust developed quickly on all underbody parts that were not galvanized or stainless steel. Nuts/bolts/clamps.

Obviously, some depends on what part of country one is in. Arizona for example is quite dry in the southern half.

Like to hear from someone who actually works on the truck assembly line currently.

I picked up a 2015 Sierra SLE w/ Carbon 20 package that was a Demo. Rebates and discounts alone were $7500 and $5000 off sticker. Plus got a couple grand more off for it being a demo. Even being upside down in the Acadia we traded in we are well under sticker (and invoice) for this truck. Over all very nice!!

I got 11k off sticker on mine plus they gave me $3k more for my trade than other dealers in other brands were offering for my '15 CC SB LT.

I mean.. this probably means its depreciated like all get out, but I felt like I got a good deal on a new truck.

From what I understand from reading a forum members time spent in a GM plant over the course of 20+ years, they are built identical. Some just have different options and obviously different badging/styling.

I think he put it something like this, "The type of people who would buy a GMC would not buy a Chevrolet simply because it was the run of the mill truck" Which is why GM still keeps GMC around.

I believe the purpose of GMC Is to give Pontiac, Olds, Buick, Cadillac dealers a truck option. Because Chevy has a built in Truck Division, I do not see the purpose of having a Chevy-GMC Dealership. Personally I do not think I have ever seen a Chevy-GMC dealership without a Buick, Olds, Pontiac or Cadillac, there might be some out there now that have consolidated, and Pontiac & Olds went away... but not initially. Usually they were Olds-GMC, Buick-GMC, Pontiac-GMC. I have seen many Chevrolet-Buick-GMC or similar, but no simply Chevrolet-GMC dealers.

Well, statistics don't lie. Obviously, the GMC light under hood feature is the rust inhibitor, lol :)
