We have reported on heavy discounts before on Silverado and other model trucks. Apparently GM is trying hard to get rid of the remaining 2015 Silverados and is offering up to $7,250 off the price of a 1500 Crew Cab All-Star 4WD. That is before you begin to negotiate. And without your trade. The discount is no secret. You can view it at the Silverado site.

24/7WallSt.com is reporting that some situations warrant even higher discounts though. Apparently, GM will offer a $2,000 "trade assistance discount" on some "qualifying" trade-ins. We are not sure if those are vehicles GM wants, or does not want, but it is worth checking into if you are considering a trip to a dealership.

If you bought an outgoing 2015 truck from GM new tell us how you did.

I did almost as good. Back on Memorial weekend got $8750 off my 2015 Silverado LTZ 6.2L Crew Cab 4x4.

I was pretty happy with the deal I got a month ago when I picked up my 2015 Silverado 1500 2WD LT Crewcab Shortbed w/ Texas Edition package:

MSRP: $40385

All GM/regional/package incentives + dealer discounts knocked that down to $27983 - advertised price (no haggling)

Add in $1500 from GM Card bonus points

Final price: $26483 + ttl

I was having a problem finding a comparable used 2014 for near that same price when I was looking.

I bought a 2015 1500 LT2 (Crew, 6.5' bed) right before Thanksgiving. Sticker was $49,600. After discounts plus $1500 GM email offer I paid $38,100 (before trade/tax/title).

I got 12k in rebates when I bought my 15 crew cab short bed New Year's Eve.

10k off my purchase.

However they charge you tax from original price of vehicle. So don't buy one without additional 2 or 3k off on top of the 10k offer.

I read back at end of 3Q that Chevy had a shot a passing Ford (trucks) for year 2015 sales. Haven't seen any final numbers though. So, don't know if Chevy pulled it off or not.

My friend bought a '15 LTZ 4WD (not All Star Edition) Short Crew with a $12.2k discount about three to four weeks ago. MSRP was in the $50k.

Ford always brags about outselling Chevrolet, but they hardly ever outsell GM, especially when you consider that Chevy and GMC are more or less the same vehicle, just different badges, and body panels. The GMC is typically a nicer vehicle tho, I think better fit and finish, a little better quality. More comfortable seats etc

When I ordered my 2008 GMC 1500 there was zero difference between the Silverado and Sierra as far as price and options.

I could have ordered either the Chevrolet or GMC as dealer sold both.

I got the GMC as the GMC had chrome bumpers.

Other then bumpers/grill and such. Exactly the same. Same price software used at dealership.

Same Same.

The Top of the Line GMC is the Denali. The Top of the line Chevrolet is the LTZ. If you look at the Denali vs the LTZ the Denali is a step up from the Chevy LTZ. Now that does not mean that you could equip a GMC exactly like a Chevrolet, rather you can get a nicer vehicle with the GMC if you wanted to... Also I think the GMC may come with a few things that are slightly nicer, I know back in the 90's the GMC would come with an under the hood light for when you opened it, but the Chevy it was not even an option.

Also I have been looking at the 2007-2014 Chevy Tahoe vs the GMC Yukons, and the Chevy Tahoes are rusting out on the fenders, I have yet found a GMC with the rust... I believe that the GMC have slightly better corrosion resistant bodies.

    • This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.
    • 2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.
    • Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
    • Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
