New OPT7 H11 LED Headlight Bulbs

Don't take what I wrote as being a jerk. I wasn't meaning to try to come off that way, if I did sorry. It seems the led tech so far is not where halo or hids are . I agree they get the color but not the performance. Lighting threads are so hard because a pic doesn't do what the viewer really sees. Sometimes a pic looks great but in reality is as bright as a flashlight. DD has an sl1 coming out, when I don't know, they said back in December. They say its supposed to be an led unlike anything out right now and said they will have them in types that fit our trucks.

You weren't being a jerk. I'm in same boat--trying to convey this in way everyone can understand. I agree with you they are definitely not to tech level of others. Headlights are Ok, I'm pleased with that. The LEDs in fogs are another. If they were more focused beam it might work. I think at this point they're just a huge flood lamp with no real throw!

I'll check out DD Jeff. Thanks man. [emoji3]

DD doesn't have the new sl1 LEDs yet. I've been checking regularly. From what I've read on them and what they state they are a game changer. They were supposed to be out mid December but are still not available. I want new lows and really want to see what these sl1's are all about but once the warmer weather comes if they aren't out I may go hid. I have reflectors so that's my dilemma. I know hids don't belong or work correctly in reflectors but halogens in this day and age are old tech and I won't spend 600+ on a headlight projector mod. I've seen many silvys (2011-2013 and 2014+) in my area with reflectors and hids. When I see that ice white headlight I'm envious. I've read 50/50 reviews on LEDs in reflectors of silverados so I can't decide to buy or not right yet. What to do, what to do.. Lol

OK I installed the LED fogs today. They are extremely bright and fill in the gap between the low beams and the front bumper. I bought these from Amazon. "Alla Lighting Extremely Bright LED Fog Lamps"

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016O424B8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Better ratings than the OPT7's and BRIGHT!

I based my purchase on numerous user reviews on Amazon. I noticed that there were several on K2 Silverados and Sierras. All rated them 5 stars. I can't disagree. These are great!

THESE REALLY SEEM MORE LIKE 'DRIVING LIGHTS' THAN FOGS.

(No pics with High Beams... I still have the OEM 'yellow' halogens in high beams, planning on OPT7 highs soon.)

Low Beams OPT7 LED only:

I see your bulbs do the same thing mine do, they're just decorative piece LOL.

I sent them back and took risk--I ordered the fluxbeam 5202 and I'm going to try them. I'm not thrilled they cost me $99 but want to see what happens. If they don't do well I'll just give them back to Amazon for refund.

I see the 5202 Fluxbeams on Amazon. I don't understand how you can use them as fogs if they have the cooling fan assembly exposed to the elements, because the fogs have no dust cover.

My opinion is this: because the fog lights on Silverado are reflectors and not projectors, you're never going to get a decent beam. It's just the nature of a reflector. Same with the trucks that have reflector headlights. The LED's just don't work well in them. I think if you want a good beam pattern, you'll have to replace the entire fog light housing. $$$

(Hope I'm wrong about this and you have good luck with the Fluxbeam LED fogs!!!)

Well, this may work too good! They are insanely bright during day.

They are Fluxbeam 5202 bulbs. I was able to zip tie everything on top of bumper support so it would be out of way.

I wish I had known, I just threw a pair of those away, they were okay at first, but they got progressively dimmer over time. I hope you have better luck, I'm back to HID.

You used 5202 in your fog lights?

These seems to be incredibly bright. I don't think I'll be able to drive with them in my fog lights.

Please report back after you drive at night. I'm also very interested to see how this works out with the fans exposed to water and road dirt. (No dust caps)

Those damn things are not safe on road. It lit up tree tops 20 feet hide.

I removed all of it and I'm sending it back. These are not any brighter or even as bright as halogens. I have way more visibility with my halogen bulbs than I do with these LEDs.

Best of luck to those who like them. I live at beach where lighting is not perfect. Maybe in city they work.

Bust for me. Back to Amazon they go.

Well sounds like your best bet is halogen. Philips and Sylvania make some pretty bright halogens that are slightly whiter than stock.

My H11 LED's are pretty good after I adjusted them up about 2 turns.

I have Phillips and my drive into downtown Jacksonville was better. I don't know what the deal is. I did turn them up 2 like yours and it seemed better but I definitely noticed places where my halogens hit further.

I definitely liked the white light!

Yeah i was going to say those fogs are going to throw light everywhere.

Theyre bright to the eye but dont have any kind of focus to them. Right now im all about the halogen, these silverstar ultras are PERFECT provide plenty of light down the road and to the sides.

I wanted these opt7s to work though

I had Silverstars on my '13 Silverado. Super bright. One drawback. They only lasted 6-8 months on average.

I just installed the OPT7 9005 high beams in my '14 Silverado. They look extremely bright in the garage. I'll report back after I drive with them in tonight. I'm pretty much sold on the H11 low beams, once I got them adjusted correctly.

EDIT: I had the truck out tonight. OH MY GOSH! Those high beams are extremely bright! I really thought with reflector housings they would scatter the light all over the place, but not the case, very bright and well focused; when I was driving down my street they lit up my house like the 4th of July! 5 Stars...

I'm also upgrading my rating of the H11 low beams to 4.5 Stars. Now that I have them adjusted 2 full turns up, and both bulbs oriented correctly in the housings, they are getting the job done. (The only reason they are not 5 stars is because they're not as bright as my wife's Acadia HID's... but the high beams make up for it!)

    • My 2015 1500 LTZ Silverado suddenly won't go into 4 x 4 low. It will go into 4 x 4 high.
    • Yep, just a quick reference point.    My main point being I’d do a thousand other things before I’d pay 10k for a transmission.    Speaking in ignorance cause I don’t look at these trucks, what is it worth? 20k?
    • I think users are going to want to pick their monitored parameters, which parameters they want to see first.    It should probably start with baseline at a minimum and adjust to learned, but be able to overlay baseline for comparison.   A simple severity level would be able to determine what type of alerting is appropriate or user selectable.    Why not use the OBD port though?   I think a phone connection would be a good idea, push notifications type deal.   Number 1 issue is having data is useless if you don’t know what the data should be under normal conditions.
    • I thought I would use your thread and add to it as I just did my first longer drive with my truck in the last couple of days. I drove from the Grande Prairie area of Alberta down to Edmonton and most of where I drove in the city was the ring road so fairly free flowing but a bit of stop and go as well in the city. Stayed the night and returned home and not too many stops along the way each way but every restart and certainly every cold start sets it back for fuel mileage. Why I say that is I see some people will cherry pick a fuel mileage leg after the vehicle had been warmed up driveline wise before hand and its a forgiving ( easy rolling drive leg for example ) and call that their fuel mileage which can give a false perception of reality. I was not heavily loaded at all but never the less the flip bak cover, rubber bed mat, various tools etc and extra jerry cans of fuel all way up to a few hundred pounds of dead weight so its not an empty truck. The cold inflation tire pressures are set more near the freezing point so once they are warmed up driving I was showing 45 front and over 40 rear and realize high inflation pressures would help a little in fuel mileage but certainly not the ride on our crap sections of highway. The weather was good so was not raining as that can really drag mileage down, in fact I had a bit of a tail wind on average driving home. Most people on here would never have driven on that freeway to visualize it but its got a fair bit of rolling type of landscape with numerous river valleys. For the most part I had it on cruise set to 62 although kicking it off if I caught it in time before it started down shifting and self braking going down the grades. Most of the more substantial grades its shifting into 7th I believe as 8th just doesn't have it. Total distance round trip was 643 miles and my overall average and I did refuel three times in all, figured out to 17.65 miles per US gallon. My best fuel mileage section refuel within all of this figured out to 18.46 and these are all hand calculated figures. I find if anything that the trucks computer can be over optimistic, sometimes its pretty close but other times its stretching it. On paper persay in theory the truck would have just about made it on fumes for that whole drive without refueling once.    Which made me think of the topic thread of the wonder if these trucks could do 20 mpg and that is a good question, certainly would have to be on an easy going flat highway, no head wind, the right temperature, not packing around a bunch of dead weight and puttering along even slower than I was I would suspect and going steady and not stopping to smell the flowers or take a piss !. It probably is possible but not without effort to attain that with the wind resistance and weight of these trucks. Of course on my drive most people are passing me if they have the power as per loaded highway tractors, never mind a lot of speedy vehicles but the speed limit is 68 and most are at or well over that.
    • Monday looks like a good day for the dealer to test an ac issue. Hopefully it all turns out good.
