New OPT7 H11 LED Headlight Bulbs

Recommended Posts

I just installed the OPT7 9005 high beams in my '14 Silverado. They look extremely bright in the garage. I'll report back after I drive with them in tonight. I'm pretty much sold on the H11 low beams, once I got them adjusted correctly.

EDIT: I had the truck out tonight. OH MY GOSH! Those high beams are extremely bright! I really thought with reflector housings they would scatter the light all over the place, but not the case, very bright and well focused; when I was driving down my street they lit up my house like the 4th of July! 5 Stars...

I'm also upgrading my rating of the H11 low beams to 4.5 Stars. Now that I have them adjusted 2 full turns up, and both bulbs oriented correctly in the housings, they are getting the job done. (The only reason they are not 5 stars is because they're not as bright as my wife's Acadia HID's... but the high beams make up for it!)

What do you mean by orientate bulbs? Did yours not sit right?

They focused light best when the power cord was at the 6 o'clock position.

I'll take some pics tonight.

High beam OPT7's are very bright. They cast a good 150 yards ahead.

What leds would you all recommend for the fog lights to get a solid match?

Thanks for all the info guys!

I bought these on Amazon.

Pro's:

The color matches 6000k.

They are very bright.

Install was easy... just a couple minutes per side.

They add more driving light to the LED headlights

Con's:

The beam is not focused like OEM halogen.

Light is widely scattered.

I can only recommend these if you want them to match the 6000k headlight color.

As fog lights, not so much.

Here is the EXACT link to the product I bought from Amazon.com

http://www.amazon.com/OPT7-Headlight-Bulbs-Clear-Arc-Beam/dp/B00VNBDWPK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1458508907&sr=8-1&keywords=OPT7+H11

** When you plug in the "Does this fit your Vehicle" it will say that it doesn't. Trust me when I say that it does fit your vehicle. I don't think its been updated because I ordered them anyways and they worked perfectly fine**

I used the link from the original post and the lights they sent me said h11 on the box but the connectors definitely don't fit!

Do you have a picture of the connectors?

This is the plug on my factory bulb

This is the label on the box the lights were sent to me in

Top is the factory plug and bottom is the plug that came with the lights

It not only is much wider than the factory plug but the tabs seem to be at a different position and the plug that came with the lights is set much deeper than the factory plug.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the H11 is a socket type, not a connector type. That wider one is what mine looked like when I got it and it connects into a male, which then branches to two cords, the two cords connect to a matching pair connected to the LED. Basically, you aren’t connecting it all correctly I’d guess. There’s a couple more pieces in the middle

Ya I have all that connected the way it is supposed to be( like you are explaining) I just didn't take pictures of it cause it isn't the issue. That plug is the part that I am trying to connect to the factory wiring harness and it didn't fit. Your right, H11 is the socket type and the actual led fits in the socket, I'm just having an issue getting the wiring connected because the plug is too wide and won't fit with the factory wiring plug.

*update* the connectors on my truck are L4s and the connectors they sent me were L6s. I'm going by an automotive lighting place tomorrow to see if they can just switch out the connectors

That’s weird that they would be different connectors and than everyone else’s? Unless they actually sent you the wrong connectors or they sent you the connectors for the fog lights

Ya I doubt my connectors are different than everyone else's so I'm pretty sure that they sent me the wrong ones. At any rate Hopefully this place tomorrow has the right connector, they are supposed to stock these lights.

I bought those same H11 LEDs and they're awesome. The light is very bright and pure white with 6000k, and isn't scattered. I don't even need to use high beams at night anymore. Everything connected perfectly for me and fits behind the dust covers. I wouldn't think heat is an issue with covers on due to LEDs running much cooler than halogen bulbs. I haven't had any issues in the year that I've had them.

    • I’m definitely interested to hear the end result here.
    • My 2025 Silverado 1500 had to receive a brand-new engine (long block) under warranty last month at only around 16,500 miles. Before the replacement, the truck repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings, even though the Oil Life Monitor still showed around 50% remaining after about 6,000 miles since my last oil change. After seeing the warning several times, I checked the dipstick with the engine cold, and the oil level was completely normal. The next day, the message escalated to "Add Engine Oil." At first, I assumed it was just a faulty oil level sensor, so I brought the truck to the dealership. After inspecting the engine, they found internal cylinder wall scoring and ultimately replaced the entire long block under warranty. Before this happened, I was planning to install a 4-inch lift and suspension upgrade on my truck. After needing a new engine at just 16,500 miles, I honestly don't see the point anymore. I also contacted GM to ask whether my vehicle qualified for a buyback, but I was informed that it does not at this time. Anyway, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the long-term reliability of this engine. I sincerely hope NHTSA expands the current investigation or recall to include 2025 model and performs a thorough inspection of affected vehicles. My biggest concern is that these engines may fail shortly after the powertrain warranty expires. If GM truly stands behind this engine, then at the very least, please consider extending the powertrain warranty to 10 years for affected owners. That would go a long way toward restoring customer confidence.
    • Without exception but then I'm the odd duck, right? I know what goes into that test, how it is calculated and thus how to beat it. But EPA values are often not beaten by the general public and the government has in past years adjusted the means and methods to come to those values to more closely approximate "Joe Average".    The only real trick to beating that EPA average is don't drive like "Joe Average".    It's the same method you used to profit from "Economic Migration" and in doing so beat the 'stats'. But you, like me, are not "Joe Average".     The thing you don't seem to grasp is this "Purchasing Power Index" isn't forward looking. It doesn't predict what it going to be but looks backward and states what it was. They are not telling us what the THINK, they are telling us what they MEASURED. Example:    Wife says "I'm going to lose 40 pounds by Christmas". May she does, maybe she doesn't but the doctors office who weighed her when she made that statement and again at Christmas only REPORTS what the RESULT was. You and I can banter about what was possible and what aunt Tilly did till the cows come home but the result is the result. Arguing otherwise is.....irrational. That's all I'm saying. This isn't about:      What you are calling a 'Statistic' is a RESULT not a CALCUATION and as a result the RULE. Like gravity as a rule, it can not be broken.
    • Just wanted to say thank you for posting this. Years later, your thread is still helping Silverado owners.   I bought my 2025 Silverado 1500 in January 2025, and I've had what feels like the exact same rattle since day one. After reading your findings, I believe my truck has the same issue with the cable carrier contacting the rear sliding window. To be honest, I had pretty much given up on pursuing the issue. It wasn't until I recently drove another brand's pickup that I realized just how quiet their cabin was—and how noisy mine has been all along. On my truck, the rattle happens on almost any paved road, gets even worse on rougher pavement, and I can even hear it during braking and acceleration.   I actually referenced your thread when submitting my case to GM, hoping they'll recognize this as a recurring issue instead of treating it as an isolated incident. The reason I reached out to GM first is because my dealership told me they would need to keep the truck for at least two days just to diagnose the problem. I was concerned that even after two days, they still might not be able to identify the source of the rattle before giving the truck back to me. I had also asked a few dealerships about this issue during previous service visits, but none of them seemed to know what was causing it or had a solution. That's why I decided to contact GM directly first, hoping they might already have an official repair procedure or guidance for this issue.   I also hope GM eventually comes up with an official fix for this problem. I have a feeling there are many Silverado owners experiencing the same rattle, but most either choose to live with it or simply don't know what the cause is.   Really appreciate you taking the time to document your diagnosis. Your post is still making a difference years later.
