............ IMHO if you want the absolute best deal, then better to conduct the purchase straight away with the dealer.

I think you have to add to the end of that sentence - - ... with the dealer - - that is really ready and willing to DEAL.

I like others, dealt with at least 5 Dealers. I was ready to buy, knew what I wanted/needed, no trade - straight cash purchase. One local Chevy Dealer I really wanted to buy the truck from. Because that Dealer supported/contributed funds to a school my Daughter attended. {really wonderful elementary school} The salesman there was a complete AH. Other Dealers just didn't need to sell a truck very bad that day. Finally wound up buying though the Internet Sales Dept of a Dealership in the next town about 30 miles away. Wonderful no hassle what so ever experience. With All GM Incentives at the time,{about 7,500.00} plus the Dealers discount { $2500.00 and waved any/all additional Selling Fees} - $10K off MSRP, plus tax and tags - out the door. MSRP was a little over $43K plus they had already added additional window tinting which I wanted here in Florida anyway.

So you have to Deal with the Dealer that is ready and willing to DEAL to sell a Truck Today. I drove the truck home that day, and I love it!

You need to look further than under your nose for good pricing. I always do a province wide when I buy... I don't give a damn where it comes from. If local was even a 1000 more sure... I would buy it locally.... but the problem is local the 2 dealers are morons in sales and service that I wouldn't let near a wheelbarrow and price outrageously. My last truck being my 15 Silverado they were pretty set at less than the current gm incentive packages which totalled close to 9000 and wanted to only remove 5000.... so sure I could weasel them down to 9000.... whoopee doo. Where I bought the truck from we went to around 17000 off sticker. .... so damn near double.... on a loaded 6.2 truck just like at the local dealer. And it wasn't a hassle... I talked with one of the owners after an email/text conversation and he accepted my offer on the phone. There was a bit of confusion when I got there but nothing crazy and I got the truck I wanted.

Plus even if this dealer is 2.5 hours away, they always rent me a vehicle and don't mess me around. If going further than 5 minutes from your house in some big city is a problem... well... go no further I suppose and pay whatever they command.

I admittedly enjoy negotiations though and have bought quite a few new vehicles now. If I can't get 30% off sticker price or close to it I am doing it all wrong.

When are they going to start selling trucks again? Loose the ghetto cruiser wheels and the Cadillac interiors and get back to the basics.

That's why the cost $50k now...
