I don’t know, all I can picture is that ugly ram on the steering wheel air bag leaving that imprinted in my forehead.  ☠️

If that part of the steering wheel is hitting your head in an accident you have more serious issues to worry about.

And some reading material for your pleasure.

All credits go to the 2019 RAM forum ……………….

"Last week I purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited from my local dealer, traded in my 2018 Longhorn because I wanted the new body style. From the drive home I noticed a bunch of issues. Loud popping sound when turning or going over a bump, sounds like I just ran over a nail. The radio sometimes comes on but no sound, songs will play but nothing from the speakers. This truck has more trim rattles than a uhaul truck, seems like poor qc from the factory.

Being a new year I would expect some problems, but it has been over a week now of me trying to contact the service department leaving numerous messages, and I cannot even get a human on the phone. I tried the answering/appointment service and when I told them the issues and said I was requesting a loaner while my truck was in the shop they transferred me to a voicemail to leave yet another message without a return call.

What should my next step be?"

Next step should be trading it in for a 2019 T1 !

The new 2019 RAM has been out on the road about 6 months longer than the 2019 GM. With that said, we should hear about a few more issues. It's simple math... there are more of them out there.    However, I do agree it seems these 2019 RAMs are more problematic than normal.

Enjoy - https://5thgenrams.com/community/forums/5th-gen-general-discussion.13/

There is a list of some issues that seem pretty widespread. 12in screen bugs, AC not cooling, water leaks, clunking front end, etc...

The trick is always to figure out what issues are  bad "widespread" and what issues are just random build quality issues.

We'll have to wait a little longer to see how the 2019 GM trucks fair.  So far it looks pretty good with only a few issue reported, that can/will be corrected. Nothing really widespread.

With the 2019 GM so far is really more about complaining about lack of options available.. the truck not having X,Y or Z..    No 6.2 in lower trim levels, no adaptive cruise in high trim levels, etc, etc,

I can tell you I had a new 2019 RAM order ready to be submitted,  but backed out and went with the 2019 Siverado.   I left a TON of fancy tech options by not choosing the RAM..... but I hate dealing with issues and the dealer service dept in general. I feel the new Chevy will be better quality overall. We'll see..

I do like how they finally added ac vents in the rear.

I noticed the vents in the 19  sierra also. My 2012 had vents in the back my 2015 does not, so I guess more people complained about it and they brought them back

In Canada that Limited is north of $80K. I know there's buyers (some of them are on here) who feel these wood inserts and flashy trim enhances their experience but even the ones that come from the factory without this problem will look like this in 10 years. These trucks, if used as a truck, will not stand the test of time. Ram is building a 1500 minivan with a box. Having said that, can't wait to see what they do with the HD gasser in the new model. Ford 7.3, Ram 7.something, GM ?????

Once you have the heated steering wheel, you'll never go back.

I just added one to my 2018, and I already appreciate it.

In my family business we bought all brands over the years. I generally when buying gas would go with GM. Towing rigs (one tons) Rams and Fords. My brothers Rams, father Fords and Rams. This is from the 70s till now. I went with Chevy simply for the ease with mods and they usually had more standard HP. We modified most of them with blowers, diesel with tunes. We drove lots of miles worked our trucks, beat them up and down pipelines and utilities lines. Hauling, pulling, sand, gravel, mud. Was one brand that much better than the other, no. Usually personal preference. Notable exclusions. GM, 5.7, 6.2, diesels, turbo 400 trans for pulling. Fords 6.0 diesel, automatic locking hubs. Ram, first year offering automatic in diesel with clips on cooling lines, early 2000s injectors failures. Nobody’s perfect. My personal perfect truck this week. Ford 5.0 extended cab mid level trim with the highest number gear I could get. I don’t like a bunch of add on stuff and hate cylinder deactivation. This is subject to change. I haven’t checked out Nissan ( great warranty) and the latest Toyota. Little known fact, the fastest full sized truck was a Toyota.

My brother had a 14 Tundra with the biggest cab and I had my 15 5.3 truck, a bunch of us went to Canada, about 900 mile one way trip.   So of course we had to see which one was faster and my 5.3 ccsb 4x4 would blow him away from 55-60 on up until whatever, quite a few times, and my truck was loaded with more stuff.  Furthermore, his truck would barely make it 300 miles on a tank and I still had between an 1/4 and a 1/2 a tank when we stopped.

    • Glad it worked for you. I tried that 1st, about 2 years ago. Didn't help. I also tried doing a hard reset (disconnecting battery for minimum of 30 minutes). Worked a couple times, but after one summer of doing it over and over, that no longer worked.  I was fairly confident it was either the compressor or a failed actuator, but I just couldn't identify which one. Had to research which actuators do what and which last numbers are associated with each.
    • Took me FIFTEEN MINUTES to find this. Isn't that a problem? On the mainstream media I can INSTANTLY find 100 articles bashing President Trump ... but when it comes to TRUTH in American corporate news & search engines, it's carefully filtered to support ONE SIDE. A Republic cannot survive like this! Incredible! Even all the AI searchers out there failed as well! ChatGPT said it needed more details on the video that I provided a DIRECT LINK to! I thought AI was the be-all, end-all?? I had to dig it up myself. This should be FRONT PAGE NEWS!!! 🤬   Here's the statement directly from our President:     Glenn Beck's reporting on the operation:   https://glennbeck.com/watch/videos/trump-just-revealed-a-massive-military-secret-that-lowered-gas-prices   In case that link doesn't work, here's the YouTube link:     And another 15 minutes to find this clip out of Glenn Beck's video - the first few seconds is all the corporate media will allow the public to see, since the low IQ people will think Trump said " I love inflation ", and that was the end of it. Taken WAY out of context! Here's that part, plus the 2nd part about the oil smuggling operation:
    • More is cylinder deactivation. Kia-Hyundai Ive had 4. The warranty is the same 10 years 100K miles. My grandson drives the first one 05 Elantra GT. My wife drives the second one 2011 Genesis. The Genesis still performs as new and looks great. The Elantra looks rough. He’s not kind to it. The third was a Genesis coup. The fourth was a Santa Fe. Those were my daily drivers. I don’t keep them long. Kia is the same as Hyundai with the same warranty. I looked at the K-4 today. Too small, otherwise pretty good buy. Most of Hyundai and Kia’s have a performance upgrade.
    • Thanks for the point of reference
    • Great question. Answer....depends. One the volume of the crankcase, the driver that will actually be using the vehicle and the amount it uses plus the distance expected for that next trip. Couple of for instances:   Wife is going to drive Dizzy to Moline and back plus a bit around town so say 500 miles on the day. I know from years with that SUV that around town and local rural it uses about a quart in 1250 miles. But on the Interstate and her at the wheel without her anchor nagging her she'll push it and it will drop a quart in about 800 miles. Hence, around town I wait to somewhere between a quarter down to a quart down. On her trip I'd top it if it was down a few ounces and hope for the best.    Have I overfilled one? You mean by adding before it needs a full quart I assume. No, not once after finding the true fill mark.  I know the dipsticks of everything I drive and add what it needs. I learn this by doing the first oil change a quart low. Run the motor for a few minutes. Let it sit over night. Check and mark. Then add half a cup at a time making note of the place on the stick. I add through the dipstick tube with a barbeque basting bottle. Give it a few minutes to drain down and check again.    A vehicle like Dizzy that uses this much oil will take a few quarts between 3K changes. I keep one in the vehicle with the bottle and a bag. (Mindful of it's fullness) Not a big deal and never makes a mess of it. There is no such thing as "multiple quarts' in my shop for any specific oil. There will be a maximum however of the number of different oils used over the fleet.     Dizzy holds a nominal 5 quarts. So the first fill was indeed over as it actually took 4.75. My vehicles are fit with Valvomax valves so I can meter an ounce on the drain if need be. Found her mark first crack at it. Never to be repeated.    Pepper uses none between changes so I don't keep a quart in that one. Straight up 6 quarts put her dead on the full line. Check it ever fuel stop. They will surprise you when they start using.    Raven holds 3 liters or 5.44 ounces over three quarts. I add 3 quarts and 6 ounces. That gives me 5 oil changes on my orphan quart.    Lawnmower holds about 3/5 of a quart. I don't over fill it to prevent an orphan. So yea, depends.
