How easy was it to remove the exhaust off your crew cab in one piece? Did you have to raise it at all? Anything special about the way you had to take it out?

I have the GMPP Borla and when it first cracks off in the morning it's LOUD. But I still wish it was louder at idle after it warms up. It isn't terrible when you're on it but again I wish it was a little louder. I'm trying to decide if I want to try and swap out the muffler for a Borla ATAK muffler...

I’m looking into this currently by using a dynomax 17517 muffler and an extension pipe to make up the overall difference in muffler length.

Do you have the 5.3 or 6.2? If 6.2, did you cut out the resonators too?

My truck did not come with resonators. It came with the GMPP so all of that had been removed already. It also has the 6.2.

I'm looking at the Borla S type catback exhaust like I had on my 2016. Has anyone out there installed this on your truck?

Do you get the weird sound when it goes into DFM mode? I'm thinking about cutting the muffler/flappers and resonators out of mine and replacing with a Borla XR1 oval but have been hesitating for range to get the disabler done.

Not that I’ve noticed. I may after the muffler swap

Reviving this post as I see a lot of people asking questions about what to do for loud, good sounding exhaust.

I have a Trail Boss and I installed an electronic cutout before the muffler and i absolutely love it. No drone and you can make it loud or stock quiet with the push of a button. When it is open, it's very deep and throaty. Sounds like a modified corvette. See my post on this. Instructions are halfway down the page and there are 3 YouTube videos. I dont see why it wouldnt. The motor is basically the same.

Hey gentleman new to the site and first post. Got my 2020 RST last week and already working on modifying. Heading after work to a local shop for an estimate/suggestions. Wanting to muffler swap with a Borla XR1 and resonator delete.

Welcome to the site and congratulations! Honestly, mufflers dont do much for this truck. The resonator delete will make a huge difference in loudness. I had a Cherrybomb Extreme muffler (which is supposed to be very loud) on for about a week before removing it and having them do the electronic cutout and that made a huge difference

Thanks. Yeah that’s why I want to just go to the shop, throw out what I had in mind and see what they suggest. Wanting that Borla growl badly.
