Well folks it's been 10 months since I had my rear window replaced on my 2020 trail boss, you know after also having my 2019 bought back by gm for the rear window leak. I must say I was a legend on this rear window leak forum early on. People at the grocery store would stop me all the time and ask me if I was the rear window leak guy they saw on the internet. Well okay not really.

Happy to report still bone dry. It's actually to the point where I don't check it every time it rains anymore. So now that I 100% jinxed myself just wanted everyone to know there is hope that maybe you'll be good after a replacement by a proper glass shop.

All in all I'm pretty happy with my truck and would probably buy it again even knowing I might have to replace the window. Just not in black though. THAT was the stupidest decision I ever made.

Ok I hope I do not jinx myself, I have a 2020 GMC Sierra SLT 3400 miles with back slider window E9, Truck was made in Mexico build date 1/20, I have used the slider window many times, I looked for hair line cracks and did not find any, I went out a little while ago and soaked the window for a good 5 min and inspected again and no leaks, would it be possible I got one that may not leak or is it inevitable it will leak? Jus wundering if I should pull the spoiler and do the bead of seal across the top...  I would jus thought that all these trucks sold that if all leaked there would be a recall or class action suit... Thanks for your replies in advance....

I would NOT caulk it in advance. You’re removing any recourse if it leaks in the future and perhaps inviting more potential leaks having the spoiler off and back on. The worst part of this deal is having to have the truck taken half apart when it leaks, no need to do it yourself no reason.

Theres no guarantees yours will or won’t leak. Being a 2020, it’s less likely to. I would say monitor it, but don’t lose sleep over it.

That's cool Bro, Hey do you happen to know if yur glass on the 2020 was an E4 or E9 and the build date? And could you share what the class company did to prevent your window from leaking? I still do not have a leak but preventive maintenance would keep me from inspecting it everytime it gets wet... Thanks man...

Ha You were replying as I was posting...

My window was replaced with a fuayo window of the same model number that came on my truck that leaked. The dealer had a local glass company do the install. I fully expect it to leak at some point. I carry two cans of flex seal and a tube of silicone windshield caulk in my glove box for any roadside leak repairs

I don’t think mine leaked until around 7000 miles, and about 8 months of ownership. No idea why some leak sooner than later.

Honestly, it’s just a matter of time until yours leaks. Hopefully it won’t, but the odds are not in your favor.

I really wish mine didn't have the rear slider. It's a stupid option anyway. Useless

Now that it's finally "Post-Summer" (what we call "Fall" here in TX), I'm using my rear slider nearly every day. I love it. Sucks I have to endure the leaking, but as I've mentioned above... I'm just accepting it and ignoring it mostly, while I enjoy the nice airflow through the cabin with the rear window open.

I just took my truck through the automatic car wash... I looked back at the rear window, at the end of the frame above the rear passenger headrest, and she was just a leaking like a slow drip, Chinese torture. ??‍♂️ ?

Maybe it is, indeed, time to bring it back to the dealer and let them "repair" it...

Just curious how you would use the flex seal?  Would you spray it along the top seam between the spoiler and the cab?

I would not have ordered the moon roof either. But it has it. If I want the top down thing I will drive this. It's only on the trailer to see if it would load without scraping and if the door would open with the fender down. It did.

So....I sprayed my truck off at the car wash today, just like I've done a half a dozen times before, but today I noticed when drying it off that there were water drops on the inside upper right corner (driver's side) of the rear window.

I had previously read about every page of this colossal thread and have been crossing my fingers and praying it wouldn't happen to me.  Mind you It was minor but as leaks go I've never seen one get better in time.

Frankly I don't think I am prepared to go through the hassle of repairing this as so many of you have shared on this thread.  The re-calking of the window from the outside sounds like a nightmare...and from the pictures it looks like it too!

Further, to add insult to injury the potential damage to the interior from sloppy techs sounds even less appealing.

Up to now I've loved this new truck and take care of it accordingly, this is very disappointing !

Damn!!

Just checked my 20 Sierra nothing! Has been raining a lot here so I think I’m good! If this happens to my truck it will hurt my soul! [emoji2359]

    • Fred was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young pullets, and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced. This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing. Now, he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells. Fred's favourite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen, but this morning he noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover. To Fred's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one. Fred was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the City Show and he became an overnight sensation among the judges. The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the "No Bell Piece Prize," but they also awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well. Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention. Vote carefully in the next election, you can't always hear the bells.
    • Can someone confirm if the GM order workbench terminal is able to validate a custom build sequence:   1) Initialize the Allocation Base: Open a new vehicle build queue, select the 2026 Chevrolet Suburban 4WD, and pick the High Country (3LZ Preferred Equipment Group).   2) Select the Diesel Powertrain: Go directly to the engine configuration screen and choose RPO code LZ0 (3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel). Ensure it maps to the MHS 10-speed automatic transmission.   3) Deploy the Seating Swap: Navigate to the Interior Options screen and enter RPO code ATT to replace the standard captain's chairs with the power-release 60/40 bench seat. Because you are not trying to force a separate luxury or air-suspension bundle, the standard, premium D07 Fixed Floor Console remains active. The system will accept this change immediately without triggering a warning message.   3)Apply Heavy-Duty Hauling Capability: Input RPO code NHT (Max Trailering Package). The commercial terminal will automatically bundle the required trailering hardware and software modules to support the diesel engine's maximum towing capacity.   5) Layer the Premium Tech and Glass: Separately add code C3U (Panoramic Power Sunroof) and code UKL (Super Cruise) to the order screen.   6) Run the Final Validation: Click the "Validate Order" button at the bottom of the interface.
    • Spent the last hour or 2 googling and reading up on the spacer thing. I don't like the loss of thread contact on the slip on spacers, but it appears you can get "extended" lug nuts that reach into the hole of the wheel to get back the lost threads. Looks like the only true hubcentric slip on spacers are at least .375". I'd want as little as I could get away with and don't want to cause other clearance issues going any thicker. Bora seems to offer what appears to be a well made .375" spacer and extended lug nuts. I searched here and did find a couple threads recommending Bora. But not cheap. By the time I buy spacers and lugs, new TPMS sensors, then pay a tire shop to install the new sensors, I suspect I'm going to be in over $400. Thinking about running out and getting some washers to put behind the wheel to see if .375" is enough to clear calipers, turn lock to lock without rubbing, and to see if the wheels/tires look strange pushed out a little. This would just be to check fitment.
    • Roadmaster makes some quality parts; I have their sway bar. I considered the RAS, but I ended up bagging. I didn't know what kind of ride I'd get with RAS, and the bags have interior jounce bumpers, so I can run 0 pounds pressure. I figured I'd have the best of normal suspension ride with assist on-demand. But it seems you got pretty much the same in one item.
