Hello,

I got a chance to tour Fort Wayne Assembly yesterday with GM's Tim Herrick, Executive Chief Engineer for Chevy and GMC full-size trucks. I thought this group might be interested in my video about it. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing. That was sweet. Never would have thought they take the doors off and back on. Cool.

Yeah, pretty nuts to do that, but makes sense. The body guys can't complain to assembly if the doors don't fit!

Would have been interesting to see how all the wire harness were hooked up, integrated.

Wiring harnesses are done offsite by a supplier and then sent in. All the assembly line does is plug them in.

This is impossible. I'm always told that GM trucks are all made in Mexico

Pretty cool to see the new trucks being built. My next truck will be a Ft Wayne truck.

Guess I didn't make myself clear in my post, I was wondering how they were plugged in on the assembly line, I assume it still takes actual hands to do that, in the older vehicles you used to see black plastic electrical tape around wire harness connections, so you knew that an actual human had touched vehicle,  that was before the days of waterproof connectors.

They have been building trucks since the "new" '88's.

I was joking. It was a reference to the fact that a LOT of Ford fans seem to believe that all GM trucks are made in Mexico.

This was awesome. Would love to see this in person. The process is truly amazing. Makes me really want a truck built at Ft. Wayne rather than General Motors de Mexico.
