All lights 6 high/auto fog -DIY 2019 5.3 Silverado

Recommended Posts

This diode installation allows all of the lights to remain on simultaneously when the high beams are activated on GM vehicles. The diode is super easy to install, you need $2 and 10 minutes. 9 of those minutes will be spent congratulating yourself. After diode placement your lights will function as follows:

  • In auto mode- whenever your lights come on automatically the fogs will be on also.
  • Low Beams & Fogs- Only Low Beams & Fogs will be on
  • High Beams- Low Beams, Fog Lights, & High Beams will all be on (normally by default)  The vehicle turns off the fogs when in high beam mode, but this diode solves that.
  • MAKE SURE THE SIDE OF THE DIODE WITHOUT THE STRIPE IS IN THE 10 PIN. The diode allows electricity to travel in only one direction.

I finally figured it out after some research. I also did the diode mod for the cargo light on with the reverse lights. I like it.

Can you share what you found?  I'd like to do it myself.

Im all new to this. I was looking at my plug wrong I didn't know that the 1st pic above was the plug with no wires. Looking for better pics of where to place the diode I came across an older post on the fourm from 2014 I believe posted by El Conqistador. Plug the diode in and then the cargo lights come on when you put it in reverse. I hope this helps.

If you don't mind, which pin #'s for the reverse and courtesy light mod?

I’m assuming these are the same for a custom. I had the fog lights put in by the dealer and for some reason I can’t get the diode to insert into pin #10 (the wire they installed with the fog light setup seems slightly thicker than the rest). This is the second night in a row I’ve spent around an hour trying to get this done... Any tips out there to help me out? ?‍♂️
