Thanks. No brake tq here! Just letting off the brake till it it 5 mph and nailing it. You can brake tq a 4 banger and make it spin. All I know is my 2020 Trail Boss with the 5.3 would only chirp the tires from a dead stop. If I was rolling like I was in the video...it would have never spun or even chirped them.

If you can take your 5.3 from a roll, nail it and break the tires loose through 1st and 2nd... I want to see it! Post up a video.

My old 02 will roll through first easily. Being it’s a 4 speed auto not a 10 speed obviously not through second. But the same distance.  My 14 a six speed with E-85 and little TM would through second with a tune.

Going back to an older truck the throttle response was quite different than the newer trucks. Taking off without turning the tires was a re-learning experience. Especially with 373 gears.

Oh I know all about that! I still have my '06 silverado 5.3, 4.10 gears, cold air, MBRP exhaust with cats deleted and a Diablo tune with as tq management turned off, that I bought brand new in July of 2006. She goes for what she is....but it still won't light them up from a roll.

Here is my '06 from a roll. She didn't even squeak'em! If ya can post up a video of what yours can do.

Every truck I owned since the 2000s could light them. Of course there’re tuned, exhaust, stock sized tires empty in the bed. Stock trucks without a tune the TC would intervene and shut them down with more than a chirp.

The 6.2 will break ‘em loose at 50+ MPH in the wet. Definitely took me off guard the first time that happened.

Yeah, if you have traction control and advanced traction off your going for a ride!

I’ll second that my 2020 trailboss 6.2 breaks traction easily also off the line 1st gear is useless in 2wd breaks loose way to easy in 1st. When roads are wet yea truck gets sketchy

    • It wouldn’t have happened if the government hadn’t mandated outrageous fuel mileage standards. It does very little for the consumer. It adds cost. Back during Covid there was a chip shortage. They gave a rebate for your truck if it didn’t have the chip to turn on cylinder deactivation. It was 50$ because at best you may see 1/2 a mile increase per gallon. Splitting hairs each fuel mileage trick wasn’t mandated. The government doesn’t do the engineering work and say use this until it’s already in use and they like it. The fuel mileage was mandated. And those add ons the results. There’s a mandate and they are the results.
    • It was never mandated.  Ever.    Automakers were incentivized to install it by getting CAFE credits to help with their vehicle fleet fuel economy scores.  They were being handed money/CAFE credits to install it.  Which is NOT a mandate.       The current admin removed the incentives that were behind them installing it.

    • My brand new 2007 Silverado's wax frame was rust from end to end partway through it's SECOND winter here in MA. That stuff is completely useless.
