Yea a 1 inch hole though the dust cap. Put the grommet in and seat the bulb, connecting the bulk plug inside the light to the adapted in the grommet. You'll only connect that adapted on one side so don't worry about the dangling plug when you do the side without the wiring harness on it.

 

Other than that it's easy. Mount your ballasts and relay assembly upright to prevent water damage and dielectric grease your connections.

 

Test everything a dozen times before assembling lol

Hey bud. The only issue you are going to run into is that you can not get the oem projector out the back of the headlights. ...........Your bracket looks good so far. I would be happy to sell you some of the FXR brackets I have made up. I have a 3d printer in my shop and can make other parts if you need. I am not a registered vendor on here so I don't want to come off like I am trying to sell stuff. So i will leave it at that. Lol.

 

 

Could I get a pic and price for the fxr bracket pls.. Do these brackets require complete dismantle of the headlight or can they be installed from the back like the other retrofits have been performed? What are the brackets made of?

Checked DDM-Tuning's website tonight and noticed they have a new kit available, it's called "DDM Ultra HID Kit" http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/Ultra-HID-Kit

 

Anyone have any experience with these hid kits?

 

They're using "Osram CBI Series HID bulbs to produce up to 20% more light than a standard HID bulb and 50% more light that many HID bulbs on the market which allows you to see further than other HID kits"

My pnp hid kit from retrofit source works perfect. Never had an issue yet but it is only temporary until I can get my retro fit done

I pick up my prototype tomorrow. The quality of this part can't be much better printed in plastic as he has some top quality machines, but the cost is to much with this guy. But, I want to know it works so I had this guy make the first one anyways. I am shopping for a more reasonable options in hopes it needs no revisions, but even if it does it's hopefully not something that needs another test.

My only issue so far is mechanical. I didn't want to crank down on the plastic to hard and wasn't snug enough with one projector so it shifted an inch at 25 feet. No electrical issues.

They are weasel wording. They don't specifically say they are Osram bulbs. I'll put dollars to donuts that they're Chinese bulbs.

You're right, totally missed that, I might just buy the 55w kit to try out, we will see. Do you think these could possibly be any brighter than standard 55w ballast? They claim to be brighter than standard hid ballast kits...

since I park inside my garage, every day I leave in the morning (daylight) my headlights stay on until I drive up the street and then they turn off (due to Auto lights). Would this be bad or reduce the life of the HID kit? (I don't have a kit yet)

 

I know I could turn the Auto switch real quick to turn off the lights, but then that also turns off the LED running lights, which I would prefer to keep on.

If you're really worried, put the parking lights on before you start it. My outlook on it is just let 'er rip.

You have a 2 year warranty. Mine are on at night and when I'm in gear, plus when shadows kick on during the day.

    • That makes sense, and I think you are describing the real product problem. Capturing data is the easy part. If the owner or technician has to manually dig through five minutes of millisecond-level logs, the product has already failed. The device would be at the ECM harness, not at the OBD port, so I agree that data retrieval and event marking need to be thought through carefully. The way I am thinking about the architecture is: The recorder itself should not depend on a phone, app, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cloud connection to capture the event. It should always keep a local rolling buffer and lock the event locally. A button, phone app, or small cabin device would only act as an event marker. If the driver feels a stumble and presses the button 10–30 seconds later, the pre-buffer has to already contain the useful data. For data retrieval, the practical options would be a sealed service USB lead, Wi-Fi download, or a phone/cabin companion device. I would not expect the owner to remove the ECM-side module or work with raw files directly. The cloud or AI side would be for interpretation, not for capturing the event. The truck may have no connection when the issue happens, so the evidence has to be saved locally first. After that, cloud processing could help decode the data, compare it against baselines, and generate a readable report. For the first version, I would keep the automatic triggers conservative and objective: driver event marker bus-off error passive voltage drop / brownout device reset FIFO or queue overflow a normally periodic message disappearing side-to-side communication mismatch, if the topology supports that For “learning normal,” I agree with your point, but I would not want to overclaim it as automatic root-cause diagnosis at first. A realistic first step would be learned baseline comparison for that specific vehicle and operating condition. For example, a value would only be compared against similar conditions: RPM range load / MAP throttle position gear / vehicle speed coolant and oil temperature battery voltage AFM/DFM state, if decoded and validated Then the report could flag things like: this periodic message disappeared compared with its normal timing this value deviated from this vehicle’s normal range under similar conditions the same abnormal pattern repeated after the same type of event the anomaly occurred together with voltage, oil-pressure, misfire, or communication changes But I would still call that “abnormal pattern detected,” not “replace this part,” unless there is enough validated repair data behind it. So the intended product would not be “here is a huge log.” It would need to be an event package: what triggered the capture how much pre/post data was preserved what changed before and after the event whether the device itself reset, overflowed, or saw a bus error selected graphs around the event raw data only as supporting evidence From your perspective, what would make this kind of report useful instead of just another datalog? For example: What are the top 5 parameters or events you would want highlighted first? Would you trust a learned baseline for that specific vehicle, or would you prefer fixed thresholds? How much false-positive flagging would be acceptable before you stopped looking at the reports? What would a one-page report need to show for an independent shop to take it seriously? For misfire, AFM/DFM, oil pressure, or U-code complaints, what would you want the tool to flag automatically?
