Well got my truck back today. Was told they did find the left front tire and wheel out. Road Force was at 37 lbs but they said it was brought down to 13lbs. Drove it out on the interstate for 70 miles at 75, still vibrates but not as bad, even passenger felt it in the seat. Still has slight vibration at 41-50 too. Gonna be busy next few months but I think this fall I will dump this piece of garbage.

Damn shame, never thought I would be a Dodge or Ford man..:(

Pardon my laziness, but don't have the time to scroll through 700+ pages. If anybody could recap if a solution was posted for my yr/make/model that'd be huge and a big thanks.

2014 double cab Z71

34xxx miles

33" all terrains

20x9 fuel mavericks

Noticed a vibration/shake a few thousand miles ago and it continues to get worse. Shakes my middle console pretty bad from roughly 65-80mph. From what I've scrolled through and found, possibly my drive shaft needs to be rebalanced?. Taking into dealership next week.

Thanks in advance.

The solution is trade it in for another brand...

Field service engineer took my truck and observed the same complaints I had. Took the "special tires" GM sent and they were out of roadforce tolerances. So they are ordering ANOTHER set of tires.

I stopped by to check on the truck and noticed the barrels of the wheels were all scratched and gouged from having wheel weights put on and taken off lord knows how many times now. So I pressed for new wheels.

My 1600mile truck shouldn't look and drive like a 100k mile truck

They are also ordering an updated set of steering bushings. I bet they will be sponges and the steering will not be responsive.

At this point I am just about done with this crap. I haven't had my truck for over a month.

GM Cust Service is lacking but I am grateful I have a good service advisor.

More to follow!

While it does suck that GM did not work out for you as well as it did for me (twice, a 2014 and now a 2016), don't think Ford or Dodge will be problem free. I hear a lot of trouble coming from those other brands, Fords especially. Aim for a Dodge, they drive nice and don't have all the problems Fords have.

Good luck bro.

I had the steering bushings done on my 2016 before the trade assist. Literally did not improve or make anything else worse. If they didn't tell me they did it I would have never known.

I seriously wonder how long GM will keep throwing parts at my truck until they donate it to a school

That's exactly what I did. Traded a vibrating 2016 crew cab SLT on a 2016 4 door Jeep Rubicon Hard Rock!

Guessing that's why you disposed of 50K of it on a vibrator.

In my particular case I noticed the bed was shimmying while driving and with no help I took my driveshaft to a specialist shop who found it was not only out of balance at the rear but not even straight. That managed to take the wheel hopping issue from the rear away but its now coming from somewhere in the front through the steering wheel and pedals. Feels like trans of front diff issues.

I notice you have aftermarket wheels and tires with a possible level kit? I had Mazzulla uppers, Fox coilovers and rears, wheels and tires and they straight up turned me away FYI stating that my warranty was void and any vibrations felt were because of the aftermarket parts. I talked to GM corporate and they agreed that even changing wheels and tires that my 100,000 mile 5 year powertrain warranty was no longer good. I had asked if by their standards that I would have to keep the OE tires for 100,000 miles and the guy told me yes. That's when I laughed and realized that I would receive no help at all.

My advice would be to put on your OE equipment before going down the never ending road just incase they decide to put a note on the paper work that you modified your truck or just turn you away wasting your time.

I had vibration at 35-45 and 73-80 did a level kit and body lift vibration stayed did bigger tires vibration stayed did new bilsteins level struts and another alignment and no more vibration at 73-80 and I rarely get a vibration at 35-45

So finally after two weeks of harassing GM customer service every day I have finally been upgraded to an executive level senior advisor. Who then asked for 48 more hours to investigate my issues...

The dealership specifically informed her that there is nothing that can be done to remedy the vibration but she wants to call them and discuss options for a fix?

I have an appointment at a different dealer Saturday so at least I will have my third confirmation that "vibrations are normal in these trucks".

Oh and the Chevy dealer by my house refused to look at my Sierra with vibration issues as GM will not pay for a Chevy dealer to diagnose warranty issues with a GMC. Is that normal? They were all about me coming in until they ran my VIN.

    • I tried tapping it.  This might sound like a dumb question, you should feel vibration or some type of noise when it turns on? Can someone please verify? Thank you all!
    • I feel better now for my own view point and actions or lack there of towards the dealership service theme reading your post and others. GM corporate is who offers the two free oil changes on the HD trucks and I bought my truck in Feb of 2025 and those oil change offers run out within 2 years I believe and I highly doubt I will be using either one of them. I had asked if I could officially give those free services to another customer ( a friend ) and they said no, its all a GM corporate thing based on the vehicle in question. What that service advisor did however was go into a little story about how such and such customer was denied engine warranty because he had done his own oil changes because then they are not documented ... you see where that goes and so an employee playing the game of scaring the customer into having the service work done there most certainly triggered my thought process. At a later date I did talk to the person who handles warranty claims at the dealership and she said to be sure to document the oil changes and keep receipts for the oil and filter ( coped the receipts from cases of Mobil oil and case of filters I bought from them ) and the vehicles VIN, the date of service, mileage etc and staple that together as a record I would give them if that was ever needed and I keep my own log book for services for each vehicle as well. Oh and about 8 months after I bought the truck the dealer starts calling me to offer a maintenance service since they haven't seen my vehicle show up on their system ... for the mere fee of 300.00 Canadian to change the oil and rotate the tires and a few other minor checks and I declined the offer, I get the call again a couple of months later for the same thing and she could tell I was not interested and she asked if they should take my name off the call list and I said yes, do that !.    By the way did you happen to keep your factory oil filter to open it up and see the surprises inside as I expect some will show up as per the odd little sliver of metal shaving and particles that the filter does trap along with bits of grey silicone sealer that come off of the inside edge of mating surfaces. I have cut open every filter so far on my truck although few miles but have changed the oil often and the second filter was vastly better with very little of anything, that first filter was the unsettling one as I expected it would be.
    • I get why they do this…but man…not ideal. I only extract on inboard boat engines because the drains are buried and even then I hate it because it’s easy to leave a quart behind with that method.   They should market it as an “oil refresh” not oil change!
    • I only get oil changed where I can watch. Valvoline pulls through the dipstick into a see thru glass. When done they show me the dipstick. About the only way they can mess up is using the wrong oil. But that secret wouldn’t stay secret long. Honda uses TQ wrenches on everything. You can watch through a plate glass window. Discount tires does that with tires. Trust but verify.
    • I would not argue that with you. It would be pointless to argue against the truth and you speak the truth.    My question and in fact the entire point of this thread is an exploration into the levers of wear which happens no matter how well we maintain our powertrains.    Some of these levers we exert a good deal of influence over which can and do result is lower wear, longer powertrain life. Some others we are sort of stuck with.    An engine is typically done when the ring to bore seal no longer is able to do the job effectively. Normally the first thing to go in a engine otherwise well maintained and adult driven is this seal.    Looking into the means, methods, products and attitudes that influence the rate of wear seems a worthwhile inquiry to me.
