BTW...how do we look up, find and read the TSBs. Is there a site that lists all of these bulletins?

Dealer read/printed the bulletin and he told me that as per GM they have to install a filter/screen so large chunks of ice and snow are not sucked into the fan. That is suppose to be the root of the noise. Makes sense as I drove the truck for a couple of hours yesterday and got it up to temp. Started it up this morning and the sound was gone......like the snow/ice had melted. He did NOT say anything about a new fan or blower....just the filter. What is crazy is that the bulletin says to order the part from another company (not GM part) and the install should take 1.5 Hours. I would assume that all new Silverados/Sierras are susceptible to this problem.

So here I am waiting for the dealership to decide whether to change my heater core because of anti freeze smell in truck..... now I am having issues with my heater motor. When I turn it right up it makes a really loud noise and you can feel the vibration in the truck from it. Its not a high pitched noise,,,,, and hard to describe..... kind of a loud hum and unbareable. Then when you go to turn the heater motor to off it takes awhile for it to slow down and shut off.

I have also complained about the stiff steering and service managers says sorry thats just how it is..... well have I got news for him. I do not enjoy driving this truck and am really wishing I had my 2007 LTZ back. The steering sucks. I only have about 1100 miles on it and have had it two months. Its disappointing these things are happening because its a sharp looking truck and does have a lot of plus`s. I am hoping something can be done with this.

I don't have a truck yet, but I can tell you when we got our 2013 Equinox in the fall the steering was very stiff. It has loosened up quite a bit now. Maybe the trucks will do the same.

The ones in extreme cold may be susceptible, but... that doesn't mean GM will do them all in cold climates, only the ones that exhibit a problem... so if yours has never acted up, don't go asking your dealer to do it. And it is odd that GM wants non-GM parts used... don't see that very often.

My truck has been making the noise and vibration also. 2014 Silverado Z71 4x4 5.3L (with reflash recall done)

I have tried 3 times now to stop by the dealer and have them listen to it. they claim they are to busy to just listen to it for 30 seconds. I was hoping they could get a jump start on ordering a replacemnent squirrel cage by doing a quick diagnostic on it. but instead wont give me the time of day unless I schedule an appointment. So im sure they will pull the thing apart, (hopfully they can just pull the blower motor out and dont give me a newby tech who pulls the whole IP out) and order parts and give me a crappy aveo to putz around in for 2 weeks while they wait on parts and tools. Im going to stress that they do not pull the whole dash, ive had dealers do this before and I have also done this before and they never seem to go back as good as it was from the factory and you always run into NVH issues with a squeak or rattle.

Man, I thought my first ever NEW vehicle purchase of a Silverado Z71 was going to be trouble free. i only have 1300miles on it and it has been to the dealer 3 times already. should have waited a year for the bugs to be worked out of a new model.

Well guys I started my Sierra up before going to work and I go outside after about 10 minutes and the windshield is still covered with snow and the interior is still cold, 12 degrees outside. So I thought I had turned heater off but it's on high but the blower not working. I scrape windshield and make a frosty drive to work. I call the dealership and make an appointment but the blower works but vibrates like an off balance washing machine. Take it to the dealer and have the service manager come outside and feel/listen to the blower. He says a mouse probably built a nest in blower housing but will have a tech open it up and check. A half our later he comes to get me and the blower housing is full of ice and water. The ice is throwing it out of balance and making it vibrate. He tells me there is a TSB on water getting into the air intake and he ordered a kit to prevent this plus a new blower assembly. I will try to get the TSB # when I pick my truck up from the dealer.

Anybody ever have any final resolution with this? Was it due to ice/water? Anybody have the TSB number?

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 that I just picked up 4 days ago. Has 150 miles on it as of now. I've noticed the blower motor, when on HIGH, sounds like a plane about to take of. It vibrates the dash and pedals. I live outside of Boston and we've had over 4 feet of snow in the past 2 weeks, so maybe it is snow/ice getting in there? Definitely feels like its out of balance. I called the dealer and am going to have them look at it when I go back in this Saturday for my sticker and registration.

My truck did this last winter and took it too the dealer and they did the TSB and I havnt had a promblem since. They put some sort of screen on the intake to stop water and ice from getting in . I think the TSB is PIT 5245 .

Just noticed this on my 2014 Silverado this morning. I was hoping after an injector went after the first week I bought it that the problems would stop but no such luck. You can feel it in the pedal and it sounds like a loud humming noise from the dash. Getting really tired of having it in the shop, GM dropped the ball on these trucks.

Should have waited definitely, not happy at all.

I just had my heater core replaced in my 14' sierra and now the blower motor is very loud and i phyically made the dealer listen to the sound. Also they did an awful job putting dash back together, it makes noises and looks like crap

I've also begun to hear the airplane in my dash. .. 2014 Silverado... I mentioned the service bulletin but was just told that they had removed the kick panel and found leaves. This suggests that leaves have been drawn into the blower motor so I'm obviously parking my truck under a tree so warranty will not cover resolution of this issue. Good luck folks!

Just fixed my blower noise problem. This is not just a problem with cold weather. GM has an absolutely horrible design in this system that allows leaves, etc. to get inside the blower.

The problem begins with the cabin filter, which needs to be changed every 21,000 miles (that's bad enough into itself). Somehow (see bad design comment above) entire leaves can get into the filter holder. When you remove the filter, if any leaves happen to fall out they go right into the blower. A single leaf is enough to cause an intolerable noise.

In addition to the poor design of the filter system/blower, removing the kick panel is very difficult on the 2014 silverado. A total of six bolts must be removed - some are right up against the fire wall.

I'm not bad with tools and it took me 2.5 hours to remove the kick panel and blower and put it back on. Hopefully someone will redesign this on future models! This system is a bear.
