Going to get me in trouble!

I learned today to set the speed alarm to 80 mph. This 5.3 liter truck is so quiet it could get me in a lot trouble.

Today, I was driving home on my marvelous two-lane state highway. An old pickup was ahead of me, varying speeds from 55mph or so to about 65mph. Back and forth, back and forth. This went on for several miles. Traffic was heavy enough that I was having difficulty finding a clear zone for passing the guy.

Finally, a spot opened and I pressed the accelerator. I didn't floor it. Didn't have to. As I went around the guy, I looked at the speedometer and was quickly near 100mph. I really was not planning to go that fast.

There was no busy-ness of the motor, no loud vibrations. Nothing was buzzy. It was very quiet in the cab. In all of my decades of driving, I have never had a vehicle behave this way. Just had to share this...

One of the many things I like about a manual trans.....I feel the engine rpm through the gas pedal and can tell when I'm 1 mph off. Never been able to tell on an auto before.

Guess I should consider myself lucky. No vibrations at all and the cab/engine are rather quiet. This is why cruise control is your friend. The truck is so quiet that you can speed and not be aware of it until you look at the speedometer.
