So, are you saying the warranty is nothing but a scrap of paper? And where would they find a high mileage used 2014 tranny?

Read the warranty booklet that comes with your vehicle under warranty repairs and component exchanges. Replacment part components used maybe new, remanufactured, or refurbished.

Secondly in the OP's case, if what they are doing is a valid repair and fixes the vehicle, you cannot just demand a whole newer higher assembly like the whole transmission just because you do not have a warm fuzzy on future reliability.

Lastly, remanufactured parts do not have to be originally made in the same year as your vehicle to be installed on it. In the case of the 6L80E transmissions on the 2014's, these transmissions have been used in prior years in a variety of other vehicles. If the part number is the same, it can go in regardless of when the part was originally made.

It is GM that has the latitude of picking what parts go in for a warranty repair, not the customer. If you actually get a new part, great but GM is not obligated because a customer demands it. GM is not alone in this policy as all the other major car makers have like policies of what parts can be used for warranty repair.

OK, well, I'm sure the OP will be overjoyed to have his tranny rebuilt and/or replaced with one, but the uncertainty will always be there....I truly hope all works out well for him.

I'm happy to read that I'm not the only one although its sad to hear that we are having to experience this issue.

I've been noticing a thump when I let off the gas pedal around 15 mph decelerating to 10 mph. I had a bigger thump on the road decelerating from about 35 mph but could not reproduce it.

This sucks. I guess all I can do is let the dealer know and see what they say. This is most definitely cause transmission issues in the future....after warranty is out or before is the big question.

just got off the phone with the dealer.....

after they took the transmission out and opened it, they found that the "front pump assembly/cover" inside the transmission was not torqued down, and the gasket has ripped, causing the hard shift (so we hope)...

This is a brand new truck, with only 1000 miles on it... hearing this makes me angry.

Just to clarify.

I was told that this torn gasket was causing a drop in hydraulic pressure and that's why the thump when shifting from 1st to 2nd. Also this seems to fit with the symptom that it only happens once the transmission is warmed up, warmer fluid lower pressure vs cold fluid. By warmed up i mean the transmission temp is 170+

The dealer is getting in the new parts today.

If I remember correctly, Honda Accord V6 cars had big transmission problems back in 2002 when they switched to a new 5 speed automatic. Many of these transmissions had to be replaced under warranty with very low miles on them and Honda did this by installing rebuilt transmissions. There is nothing wrong with this as long as the rebuilt unit is rebuilt under strict quality control spec per the manufacturer and all wearable components are replaced. It definitely would be a raw deal if they had these transmissions "rebuilt" by some fly-by-night oufit somewhere in some third world country.

There is no doubt that many loyal Honda owners were not happy with getting reubilt tranmsisisons, but warranty obligations were satisfied.

Must have been a early monday or late friday build on that transmission. Kind of like the old story about the harley mechanic. A Guy buys a new bike and keeps having trouble with it and complains a lot. Mechanic spits big wad of baccer at his shoe and says Quote "Little babies die every day and GOD made them" So what do you expect from something mechanical made by man????????

Why is it that some dealers recognize and fix the identified problem and others say "NORMAL"?

And why is it that you spend so much time in the 2014 Problems Section when you do not own one, do not drive one and have no interest in ever buying one? And yet, you're responsible for a large percentage of negative posts about it? If you were a Tech or somebody with a great deal of technical knowledge about them helping us out with info, that would be one thing. But clearly you're not. You just add noise.
