Vibration in Floorboard, Not Speed/Tire Related

First off, I did a search and the only thread that appeared was the 41 page "Shake or Vibration" thread. But after looking through about half of it, nobody appeared to have a problem similar to what I'm observing.

 

Since I've taken delivery of my Denali in December, I've been noticing a slight vibration in the floorboard when accelerating, and then at certain RPMs. I've had tire and balancing issues before on other vehicles, and this is definitely not related to the tires or even speed - my truck rides smooth as glass. My problem is related to engine RPMs and slight vibrations and is only noticed at my floorboard. The vibrations aren't too bad, but the issue is that my feet (mostly left and right heel) start going numb on moderate to long length drives. When I was younger I had a job as a bike assembler using power tools all day and I would experience the same numbness/tingling in my hands after a long day of building bikes. When the vibration occurs, I can generally let off the gas a little and it'll go away. But it's present much of the time. It's so slight that I didn't really care, but now that it's causing my feet to go numb, I can't ignore it.

 

Has anybody else noticed something similar? It feels like maybe a motor/transmission or body mount is bad. I'm going to mention it the next time I'm in for service, but wanted to see if anybody else was experiencing something similar.

I have the same issue with my truck, just noticed it about a month ago. It's a 2014 Silverado LTZ crew cab that I purchased brand new in September of 2014.

 

The vibration is coming from the drivers side floorboard at low speeds.

 

I need to bring it in for the 30k service soon so I'll be sure to ask about this issue. Hopefully it's something minor like a driveshaft U-joint.

Hello, this seems to be one of the only threads I could find on the buzzing/vibration in the pedal. I just purchased a 2018 sierra denali and seem to have recently started to feel this issue. Does anyone have an update on it, because it is driving me insane. It seems to only be at low rpm's, then goes away. I don't feel like I noticed it when I first bought the truck. I just hit 2,500 miles. Someone mentioned the 4 wheel drive not disengaging. I did have a little situation a month ago where I was cleaning the truck and accidentally switched the 4 wheel drive to 4H while cleaning and didn't notice it until I started it up and drove 1/2 mile... could that of done something? I honestly have a hard time believing I would need to have a brand new 60K truck looked at already for something. 

 

PS  - I read something about double sided tape... is that really a trick that works? I'll try anything.

I have a 2018 too and feel it in the floor board too. Find myself moving my feet around all the time. I thought maybe it had something to do with Denali suspension. Very slight but it drives me insane

This seems to be the best thread designated to this issue. I guess my next question is what to do next? Do I contact the dealer and have them look at it? or wait till it gets worse? I am assuming, if something is truly wrong it would be covered under the warranty still being that it is brand new. I would hope they would not charge me just to take a look?

They won’t charge to look at it but will say it’s within normal range. It is frustrating.

yes, only 1500 - 1900 rpm, I'm not sure about v8 or v4, I don't really watch that. Actually made my wife drive it last night and she noticed it...

For me it’s 15-1900 and doesn’t matter v8 or v4

I disabled the V4-V8 on my truck and I haven't noticed the vibration since. I do have the RX can mounted on the brake booster.

Update: mine seems to have a mind of its own. It tends to come and go. I cannot figure it out, but when it occurs the entire truck seems to not drive great (sluggish), then I'll get a few days where it's perfect and no vibration and runs awesome, which is what is frustrating as hell! I'm almost due for my first service and I plan to bring it up, but I doubt it'll go anywhere...

Same with Mine. V8, V4 Tow Haul on or Off, doesn't matter.

Seems to run fine but just an annoying floorboard vibration as if someone has turned on an oscillating tool under the floorboard.

Not real strong but noticeable.

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?   
    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
