I noticed that my cargo light switch does not have an indicator light on it. I have seen it on other trucks. just wondering how common this is and if the switch can be replaced with one that has the indicator. Just thinking about the switch getting bumped on and not knowing it. Want to avoid a dead battery.

I read on a different group that it is easy and cheap to replace the switch. The cost was less than $40. When ordering they will need your VIN to get the correct switch. There are many variations. Here is a link http://www.gmwholesaledirect.com/auto-parts/2014/chevrolet/silverado-1500/lt-trim/5-3l-v8-flex-engine/body-hardware-cat/cluster-and-switches-scat/?part_number=22931373

I think there is a timer on the switch and it shuts off when the ignition is turned on. Really shouldn't be a dead battery problem.

I really wish they would of put the indicator light on the switch from the start . Or at the very least some sort of icon on the cluster to let you know the light was on . Do anybody know if the cargo and bed lights shut off after a certain amount of time ?

Yes, they do. Silverado Owners Manusl page 6-9

Battery Power Protection

This feature shuts off the dome and reading lamps, if they are left on for more than 10 minutes after

the ignition is turned off. The cargo lamp shuts off after 20 minutes. This prevents the battery from running down.
