More power for the 2500?

That's exactly why I started the post. The current 6.0 isn't cutting it for me. I want a gas engine with more power. Are they going to add direct injection to the 6.0? Maybe get it up over 400 HP?

It's the torque that pushes you back in the seat, and the DI6.2L (L86) is still not muh more than 1/2 the torque of the current (LML) duramax.

FWIW, the L86 is 420hp, but not til 5600rpm. Currently only available in the 1/2 ton.

The problem is the OP is going in the wrong direction to solve his problem. All he needs is a tune to have the pickup drive like he wants.

Get a gasser and you'd need a lot more to get it to drive that way...

Dude like they all said delete and dsp5/efi live. Straight pipe with a 5 inch tip and add a lift pump. You have no clue how much rwhp you'll have

I don't like the torque range and shift points of the Duramax. Plus having to add the DEF drives me crazy.

If that's the case, you're going to be really disappointed with the 6 speed transmission we have in the gassers.

All you need is a tune and all will be fine. Really don't need to give up all that truck and downgrade. The gassers also need aftermarket tunes to really run, GM has everything set up for best MPG's and it kills the drivability. A tune will give you a whole different truck.
