I had the same problem, took it to the dealer and they said the same thing. Cracked hose and no freon... Parts ordered and repaired.. Worked one day and then back to not blowing cold air.. Took it to a different dealership and they said it was the air compressor/condesnor.. Replaced it and now it works like it should. No problems... Btw my truck had only 2000 miles on it. I only had it for 2.5 months.. Hope you get yours fixed ..

How much did the dealership charge you for parts and warranty? I have the same problem on my Silverado.

I am having problems with my air conditioning again. My A/C is blowing warm air and this is the second time I have had this problem since buying my 2015 Sierra less than 6 months ago. A few months ago I had the exact same problem and my dealership diagnosed it as a leaking hose and all of the freon was gone. They had to order a new hose and it took a week for it to come in. They installed the new hose and added more freon and it has been fine for the past 3 months until today. This morning I noticed that the air coming out was warmer than normal even though I have the A/C set at 65 degrees. It was fine yesterday. I am going to monitor it and see if it gets worse and if so make an appointment to take it to the dealer again.

Just wondering if anyone else has had to replace the hose or had a freon issue with their 2014 or 2015 Sierra / Silverado?

Just curious, how much did the dealership charge you for parts and labor?

Looks like his was covered under warranty. Buy a condenser online and save some money. Have an AC shop vacuum your system and replace your condenser yourself. Then take it back to the AC shop and have them charge the system with freon. There are pictures on how to do this and maybe a youtube. Just do a Google search.

My AC quit this week with 39,000 miles.  I was told my warranty had expired.  The GMC dealership wanted $1100 to repair my 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 for issues related to a TSB  PIT5331. There are class action lawsuits in New York, Michigan, Texas, and Arizona.  Yet still, GMC does not feel responsible for the cost of any repairs.  If a company knowingly sells a vehicle without disclosing or repairing the technical issue, does a customer not have any recourse or rights?  I have not been able to find a lawsuit in Florida.  If anyone has any information or suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Well looks like I have been struck by the A/C problem as well. Took it in and was told its the discharge line from the compressor to condensor that everyone seems to have issues with.

My question is, would it better to update it to the new design without the muffler (ACDELCO 15-34718) than using the old design with the muffler (ACDELCO 15-34670) and adding the bracket? I will be replacing it myself, but just want to make sure I get the correct hose for the truck.

I used the bracket with the new same hose.

You sure it isn't the condenser itself? There has been so many issues with them. Here is the video on how to replace it if this is actually the problem.

I just took mine in for the second time as well for the same issue. First time I believe they just recharged it.  The AC never got an more cold than 73. They replaced the hose and added a bracket. It is now at 61. We will see how long this last.

Condenser is notorious for failing on '14-'15 Silverado/Sierra.

Also '15 Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban and Escalade.

I had the same issue...condenser issue.  After researching all of the "design flaws" that were possible, and adding some dye to the system, I found the culprit on the top drivers side of the condenser.  The fun part was finding a worthy condenser.  I went to a couple of parts houses and opened every condenser they had in-stock for my truck.  I went through 8 of them before finding one that was straight!  7 aftermarket condensers came out of the box warped and one AC Delco Professional condenser that had a bent pipe.  The second AC Delco Professional condenser I got (had to order it) came out of the box perfect.  Now I've been working on cars for 30 years...and I have to say that my truck has the first AC system I've seen without a Dryer can.  The Dryer is actually part of the condenser.  I don't know how many have noticed, but the AC compressors on these trucks aren't large at all.  I replaced the compressor since I already had the system apart.  Replaced it with an "Improved Design" AC Delco Professional compressor.  So, while the entire system was apart, I flushed out the plumbing and evaporator core and ran compressed air through everything until it was all bone dry. The one thing about this system...it is VERY particular about the measurement of the oil/refrigerant.  The new compressor came with 1.4oz (or 1.6oz) of oil, but according to the setup, it requires 2.  So I got a measuring glass and got exactly 2oz oil in the compressor, 2oz oil in the condenser and 2oz oil in the evaporator core.  I sat the condenser sideways for the oil to get down to the dryer (about 20 minutes), reassembled the system and pulled vacuum.  I must say, I really like the design of being able to remove the condenser without having to drop the radiator.  I thought the engineers deserved a "hi-five" for that one, hehehe.  Anyway, after drawing a vacuum and eliminating the humidity in the system, shut down the vacuum and verified that the system held a -28 to -30psi for a good hour.  Installed the right amount of refrigerant and its been blowing ice cold ever since.  I got the AC Delco parts from XL Parts.

Well looks like im like everyone else, was brought in probably 2 or 3 weeks ago and they said they replaced a line going to the condenser even though everything under the hood looks the same, all ac lines didn't look new to me. So i'm sure it's no surprise to anyone here that it is now blowing hot air again. We will see what the dealer says it is this time, they might as well replace the entire system because i have almost 3 years left on my warranty and only have 31k on my truck so they are not getting out of repairing this!

2017 Silverado 2500 HD,  AC blows ice cold first start up in the morning.  Then after that its barely cool. they vacuumed the system, had to add about 1 lb of Freon and added dye.

drove it for a few days, took it back, couldn't find a leak. they replaced the expansion valve. still the same problem.

A few months ago I realized my air-conditioning wasn’t working either. Warm air is blowing out from the vents. The warm weather has arrived and I need to find out what the problem is. From what I have been reading it seems to be a very common problem. GM needs to do right and recall the issue.  The truck was purchased new in November 2016. This shouldn’t be happening yet.

    • My 2025 Silverado 1500 had to receive a brand-new engine (long block) under warranty last month at only around 16,500 miles. Before the replacement, the truck repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings, even though the Oil Life Monitor still showed around 50% remaining after about 6,000 miles since my last oil change. After seeing the warning several times, I checked the dipstick with the engine cold, and the oil level was completely normal. The next day, the message escalated to "Add Engine Oil." At first, I assumed it was just a faulty oil level sensor, so I brought the truck to the dealership. After inspecting the engine, they found internal cylinder wall scoring and ultimately replaced the entire long block under warranty. Before this happened, I was planning to install a 4-inch lift and suspension upgrade on my truck. After needing a new engine at just 16,500 miles, I honestly don't see the point anymore. I also contacted GM to ask whether my vehicle qualified for a buyback, but I was informed that it does not at this time. Anyway, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the long-term reliability of this engine. I sincerely hope NHTSA expands the current investigation or recall to include 2025 model and performs a thorough inspection of affected vehicles. My biggest concern is that these engines may fail shortly after the powertrain warranty expires. If GM truly stands behind this engine, then at the very least, please consider extending the powertrain warranty to 10 years for affected owners. That would go a long way toward restoring customer confidence.
    • Without exception but then I'm the odd duck, right? I know what goes into that test, how it is calculated and thus how to beat it. But EPA values are often not beaten by the general public and the government has in past years adjusted the means and methods to come to those values to more closely approximate "Joe Average".    The only real trick to beating that EPA average is don't drive like "Joe Average".    It's the same method you used to profit from "Economic Migration" and in doing so beat the 'stats'. But you, like me, are not "Joe Average".     The thing you don't seem to grasp is this "Purchasing Power Index" isn't forward looking. It doesn't predict what it going to be but looks backward and states what it was. They are not telling us what the THINK, they are telling us what they MEASURED. Example:    Wife says "I'm going to lose 40 pounds by Christmas". May she does, maybe she doesn't but the doctors office who weighed her when she made that statement and again at Christmas only REPORTS what the RESULT was. You and I can banter about what was possible and what aunt Tilly did till the cows come home but the result is the result. Arguing otherwise is.....irrational. That's all I'm saying. This isn't about:      What you are calling a 'Statistic' is a RESULT not a CALCUATION and as a result the RULE. Like gravity as a rule, it can not be broken.
    • Just wanted to say thank you for posting this. Years later, your thread is still helping Silverado owners.   I bought my 2025 Silverado 1500 in January 2025, and I've had what feels like the exact same rattle since day one. After reading your findings, I believe my truck has the same issue with the cable carrier contacting the rear sliding window. To be honest, I had pretty much given up on pursuing the issue. It wasn't until I recently drove another brand's pickup that I realized just how quiet their cabin was—and how noisy mine has been all along. On my truck, the rattle happens on almost any paved road, gets even worse on rougher pavement, and I can even hear it during braking and acceleration.   I actually referenced your thread when submitting my case to GM, hoping they'll recognize this as a recurring issue instead of treating it as an isolated incident. The reason I reached out to GM first is because my dealership told me they would need to keep the truck for at least two days just to diagnose the problem. I was concerned that even after two days, they still might not be able to identify the source of the rattle before giving the truck back to me. I had also asked a few dealerships about this issue during previous service visits, but none of them seemed to know what was causing it or had a solution. That's why I decided to contact GM directly first, hoping they might already have an official repair procedure or guidance for this issue.   I also hope GM eventually comes up with an official fix for this problem. I have a feeling there are many Silverado owners experiencing the same rattle, but most either choose to live with it or simply don't know what the cause is.   Really appreciate you taking the time to document your diagnosis. Your post is still making a difference years later.
    • I have 2 choices.
    • Do you have access to BP fuels? Some stations have Silver 91 E-0 priced the same as their 93 E-10.  There is a local Marathon with 90 alky free for $6 a gallon but I go down the road to BP for $5-ish. They also have a 100 E-0 but that stuff is $10 a pop.
