I FINALLY love my new truck

Well after some SERIOUS buyers remorse and thoughts of trading my truck for a loss, I am more than happy to say that I have FINALLY got my truck to where it is an absolute joy to drive and I absolutely love it. I hated the throttle response (or lack there of) and just felt like this thing was such a dog it wouldn't get out of it's own way. I have the 2015 Sierra SLT 5.3 with 3.42 gears. Stock, it absolutely SUCKS. I didn't want to ruin my warranty with a tune, and although the diablosport claims not to, I'm not willing to gamble that since I have no proof. Now, I'm glad I kept it, and I have very few complaints anymore at all with it.

So what did I do you ask? Here it is:

1st I got the Range AFM delete. Can't stand v4 mode. I didn't buy a truck for gas mileage, and I think it is stupid for GM to not give us the option of turning it off.

Then came the Morimoto HID kit 35W 4300K to get rid of those awful headlights

Also replaced the fog lights with some really bright LED bulbs because even with the morimoto HIDs, the side of the road close to the truck still wasn't lit well. This cured that problem.

Next was an Airaid MIT on the intake. Did this based on several recommendations and have to say it does make the intake sound like a truck now. Don't know that it did much for performance, I was mainly after throttle response and sound. It made a VERY slight difference in throttle response, but not enough to make it worth it if that's all you're after.

Then came the game changer. The Sprint Booster. I can't even tell you how much this helped. There's simply no lag in the throttle response anymore. I didn't find much info on these after several searches and just want to let everyone know about it. If you have questions please ask and I'll do my best to answer, but man let me tell you, this was really the turning point and made me decide I hadn't made a huge mistake buying this truck. I saw a couple guys talking about it, and was on the fence for a week or so. Figured it has a 30 day money back guarantee so I had nothing to lose and it was worth a try. Couldn't be happier.

Now I had to do something about the exhaust. Can't afford Corsa (which is what I wanted) after dropping the coin on the previous mods, so I went with the Magnaflow 4x9 oval 14" SI/SO muffler and got rid of the "flapper" valve thing and got rid of the resonator. It's not as loud as my 2011 with a slowmaster super 40 SI/DO, which isn't a bad thing, and it sounds like a BEAST.

Don't get me wrong, I still hate the back up camera and wish I could do something about that, but other than that I absolutely love my truck now and am glad I have it.

Just want to say thanks to all who contribute on this forum, because without you guys and gals I wouldn't have had a clue what to do

For the cost of the sprint booster and the AFM delete you could of had a dedicated tune to release some power and remove some of the torque management.

But I'm glad you are happy with your truck, I was in the same boat as you last year.

I read many times that the sprint booster was basically snake oil? Just making the gas pedal more sensitive up top, to feel more responsive, but no actual gains.

Glad you're happy with your truck. I myself however still have a long way to go. Question why didn't u just get a tune? I would think u get more out of it and play with it more.

Yeah didn't want to risk the warranty. If I still have this truck after the warranty, I will def go black bear tune route, but considering I only have 2600 miles, that is going to be a while. I had to do something NOW or get rid of the truck.

Everyone seems to think that the sprint booster just makes the computer think you're giving it more gas than you are. From the research I've done which has been pretty extensive, it appears to me that this is not correct. It actually remaps the whole throttle signal. If you look at the graphs they have it shows that pretty well.

The best way I can explain it from my actual experience is that the the pedal is in the same position it was before. It just doesn't have the hesitation and lag to get the engine where the pedal is. Hope that makes sense.

I felt kind of the same way until I got my Blackbear tune. Love the truck now.

What don't you like about the back-up camera?

My only complaint is my SLT didn't come with back-up sensors. But I find the camera very functional.

With you having only 2600 miles, I don't think you gave it time to break in/fully learn itself. My truck was sluggish for those first 2-3K, but after that it has been great.

That's all it does. Even says so on their web page.

Yup.

Free sprint booster = push the pedal down more

I don't want to give OP too much grief since keeping a warranty is important to people. I just think he would of been better off just not doing anything and getting a tune down the road. So far I haven't heard of any issues with the 5.3 grenading like we did with the 6.2, which seemed to come from a manufacturing defect.

It's useless in the rain, in my experience.

Welcome neighbor, glad you're able to enjoy your truck now!
