New OPT7 H11 LED Headlight Bulbs

Finally installed the Opt7 6k LEDs. Just wanted to say thanks to you guys providing some valuable info for choice of LEDs and installation. These things are BRIGHT... I wish the H11 were in 5k for just a little less blue tinge in the light, but overall I am pleased.

Glad we could help! I love my lights but I agree a 5k would have looked a little cleaner. All in all they are awesome though!

I'm not sure how you guys oriented all of the wiring and the controllers. I read previously that someone stuffed all of it behind the dust cap and sealed it in. I was a little concerned about heat exposure to the controller and the wiring, so I do a little DIY. I drilled a hole in the dust cap and ran the controller/wiring through the dust cap, and used double sided tape to stick the controller to the sidewall of the engine bay. There were already wires running through some tracks along the side wall, so I ran the excess through the pre-existing tracks for neatness, then ran it back into the dust cap which connected to the factory harness. To eliminate the giant hole in the dust cap, I sealed it back with a rubber grommet. I cut a slit to the center of the grommet to allow the wires to run through. Here is pic of the drivers side low beam dust cap

Did any one have any problems with the H11 connectors for OPT7.

I noticed that the polarity switcher cable was very lose when connecting to the factory harness, and there is enough play in the spacing where the locking clip is to become un-plugged during operation.

I think I can fix it by using zip tie or some thing but wanted to know what you guys think.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Scruggs, do you have projectors or just the regular headlights? looks like you have the non projector type in the pic but really cant tell..

Ok thanks. I have a 2015 Sierra so I'll need a kit for that. The 6k color worries me a bit and as you said, wishes they weren't as blue. But happy eh?! Any problems with oncoming traffic?

Just wanted to let you guys know there's already a thread on these lights if you want to grab any additional info about them.

I have them myself and am happy with the output. My initial install i needed to adjust the beam because they were ointed rather high. I never got around to it but after about a month one of the drivers failed so i had to go back to my stock bulbs. Opt sent me a replacement driver for free. I never installed them back in until around early last month, so far theyre just as good as the first time.

My only thing I need to know is how to aim these damn lights left and right. No one can answer this yet tutorials keep stating that you, but they never show how.

Pretty interested in these for my 14 Sierra. Do people like the HIDs from them more or the LED? Also, is there any other way to connect these other than cutting into the dust caps and using a grommet, I feel like heat shouldn't be too much of an issue since if it's the LED they put off less heat. Just curious

What do u mean cutting into the dust cap?

As far as letting the fan in the light circulate fresh air or running wire through it. I also just reread the whole thread and found it won't fit my Sierra although it says it would on Amazon. Forgot the lights are different

upgradde,

OPT7 recommends using the 9006 Fluxbeam LED in the Sierra (if you want the LED).

http://www.opt-7.com/fluxbeam-led-headlights/

They recommended to me to drill venting holes in the dust covers.

I've also contacted BPS Performance about their LED light kits for the Sierra, a 9012 kit is available from them in 2 different LED styles, one with a heat sinc, G7, the other using fans-G8.

They said no modification to the dust caps would be necessary.

If you haven't seen or read the info posted on the following thread, may be worth a look.

    • I get the same results with pictures. Then I figure it out. Then I forget. Screw it.
    • I guess I'm the only one on this forum who can't get effing pics to load here! Do you have to resize them to post, or am I just blocked from uploads?   I have the same luck with automotive electronics ... but this is the ONLY site on the net that I have this problem!   I'd post pics of what I'm working on ... but I CAN'T! 🤬       Just fabbed up the kickdown cable (had to extend the cable mount WAAAY out from the throttle shaft to get a full pull), and parts arrived for the fuel lines on the 940 carb conversion project. Should be able to drive this thing by the end of the day. If not for work, I'd have had this thing done SIX weeks ago.   Got the jetting sorted out last week. Had a real bad tip-in bog that I couldn't seem to correct. Friggin float height was over 11mm too HIGH! eBay purchase, so no wonder everything is screwed up right out of the box! I ended up with a larger dual-squirt accelerator pump jet anyway instead of the single. Also moved the 70 primary idle jet (4 sizes too big out of the box) to the secondary idle circuit, and installed a 57 in the primary. Runs great on the fuel bottle!    Still using the computer for ignition. Going to drive it first and see if I want to go through the project of installing an intermediate shaft with a distributor drive gear, so I can install a block-mounted distributor and run points, 100% computer free. I should do that anyway just from a simplicity / reliability / tunability standpoint. The electronics left me stranded last year a couple times! I can't tweak the timing to my liking right now because of the computer. Tried twisting the cam-driven distributor already ... and the damned thing just reverts back to where it was! That's infuriating. But if it runs well enough I might save that for next season.   Just driving it in and out of the shop to work on other projects, it feels 1,000% more responsive with the carburetor. Also fires MUCH faster when cranking. Can't wait to drive it and see if I got more than 114 ponies, lolol.
    • Triumph makes me think of cars not bikes. Especially with model names like the TR7, that was a Triumph car model too. Peak TR for me was the TR250. You could retain the post-war roadster looks, with an optional surrey hard top, but with an inline 6 engine instead of the TR4's anemic 4-cylinder, but still have a 4 speed, optional overdrive.   I know almost nothing about Triumph bikes, except that they exist. Good looking bikes though.   I don't know if I could just have one vehicle. The Silverado does it all except for fitting anywhere. But it leaves a void in real driving enjoyment, unless driving an extremely large sofa is your thing.   What did I do to my 'other' (muslce car - which one!?) vehicle lately. I took my '23 SS for a drive. It's only got 1600 miles. I keep reminding myself I shouldn't be so precious about this car. It likes to be driven. Needs to be driven. Life is short and if I don't enjoy it, someone else will. The other half calls it "the garage ornament".
    • Hey everyone, Thought we’d share our 40" SLIM Light Bar setup for the 2022+ Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for anyone looking at behind-the-grille lighting options.   The 40" bar sits behind the lower factory grille, so it stays pretty well hidden when it’s off. The mounting position is also adjustable, which helps with getting the bar positioned properly depending on the grille.   A few details on the setup:   40" SLIM LED light bar Fits 2022–2026 Silverado 1500 Spot + flood beam pattern White, amber, or white with amber DRL backglow Adjustable mounting position No cutting or drilling required Doesn't interfere with the active grille shutters Vehicle-specific mounting brackets       It’s a straightforward option for anyone who wants the coverage of a 40" bar but prefers to keep the front of the truck relatively stock-looking. Curious what the Silverado owners here prefer — hidden behind-the-grille lighting or an exposed bumper-mounted setup?
    • Yes. Absolutely. That doesn't mean I don't like and enjoy a variety of machines. I went for a time with no other vehicle than a 1976 Triumph TR7-V Tiger. Loved that bike and rode it 365 in any and all weather. I did not feel deprived of anything.
