Loose Chrome trim strip on Denali

Hey fellas I just noticed that my chrome trim is coming loose at the back of both my drivers and passenger front doors. Has anyone else had this happen and if so how the dealership go about the repair? I can just imagine Mr Goodwrench with some super glue in hand. I am thinking that the trim needs to be completely removed / replaced and properly fastened with fresh 3M adhesive or whatever they use to make it stick permanently. Advice?

My wife's 2015 Tahoe has a spot in the passenger door where mid ways iylt has came unstiluck. I haven't carried it in yet because I think with it being black the techs at my dealer would likely scratch it. I am watching and will likely use a heat gun and fishing line and repair myself.

I have a buddy who has a 2014 Acadia that this happened to (except much worse)... You'd think GM would improve the adhesive but...

You can get auto body trim adhesive from any chain auto parts store or your local Wally World. It would be a lot easier than pulling the molding off and reapplying 3M trim tape.

I guess I will see what my expert dealership service advisor has to say about the trim at oil change time. I bet he says that they have NEVER seen that issue before LOL. They also need to fix a rattle in the GM Borla exhaust that they wrenched onto the truck a while back and do the airbag update thing. Other than that everything seems to be fine at 8500 miles. Actually very happy with the truck so far I see a lot of threads with complaints on here and feel pretty lucky not to be in that crowd (knock on wood)

The correct fix would be to pull the moulding off and retape it. If the moulding is warped, they might just replace it to prevent it from happening again.

 

The vast majority of cars nowadays have those moulding held on by the 3m double sided tape from the factory.

Update the dealership ordered a new trim piece for the drivers door. Claimed that they have done many replacements and never scratched a one.......

My wifes acadia denali has had the crome molding replaced three times and is pealing yet again.

At the dealer I work at we would order a new molding and replace it.

 

And dealerships always say they've never seen something before because if we tell customers something is a common problem they want it fixed for free or insist it should be a recall, therefore they shouldn't have to pay for it .

Update on chrome trim. I took the truck in yesterday and my dealership service department replaced the chrome trim piece on the drivers door. All good now thanks to everyone for their input.

On a side note: I also had them replace the dash plastic trim piece in front of the dash pad. Mine had warped up right in my line of sight when driving. (Pic below) has anyone else noticed an issue with this plastic piece or am I just that one in a million rare lucky youngster? New one seems to be warping slightly also. Dealer guy said there is no fastener in that area?

I have a dash cover. I'm in AZ. So I try to save the dashes of my vehicles the first chance I get. But I'll take a look to see how mine is.
