Upgrade Question

Hello, 

 

Quick backstory... 

 

Im new here so thanks for being patient.

 

Some lowlife stole my 1986 Sierra that has been in my family since it was new. Has 60,000 original miles

They found it and caught the thievs.

They trashed it and spray painted it black.

 

Me and my dad are going to slowly rebuild it.

It has been my daily driver for the last 10 years.

 

Ive  finally decided to get a new truck

I am getting a 2015 version of my old truck. 

 

My question is about upgrading the 4inch screen to the larger 8inch with apple car play.

Is that something that the GMC dealer can do for me?

 

It's not something I want to try myself.

 

Please let me know any thoughts or experiences you might have had with the upgrade.

There’s a few companies online that offer that upgrade. Do a search for IO6 upgrade. There’s also tutorials showing how to do it yourself. It’s not as difficult as it may appear.

 

Get out your wallet, it’s not a cheap upgrade.

I'm selling my conversion kit. Super easy to do. I had it in my truck to convert to the 8" screen. I took it out before trading it. I bought it for over $800. Selling for $550 shipped

Does it need to be “flashed” to my vin?

 The reason i ask is that seems to be the  procedure on the link provided in the previous reply.
